To wear a bikini for aqua natal class?

It's my first class tomorrow but as I'm 6 months gone my costume won't fit. I have a fairly substantial bikini which will do but.... is it the done thing to go to a public baths in a bikini when you are the size of a small whale?

I know I shouldn't care but I do. It may be like one of those anxiety dreams when you walk into work naked if everyone stares.

I also have a hairy belly ATM but this can be corrected with a quick bleaching session before I go.

Can't find the original thread, but TSC tells the story on this thread.

Aquanatal was wonderful, I made great friends there and we're all still getting together every week even though our DCs are starting to turn 2 now.

waiting for that link, too - i could do with a laugh!!!

oh my, that thread is funny yankncock! i am crying.....

I wore it! The bottoms have a kind of folded over waistband so I unrolled it over my bump and it looked OK! One girl asked me if it was a maternity bikini! I think I may have invented something here! I did almost flash my boobs to the whole group though, when we we doing some jumping-type exercises which involved raised arms, so I might just invest in a cossie.

PLEASE find that thread, yank it sounds hilarious! Going to read the TSC link now...

Good for you - I don't understand why people are Hmm at wearing bikinis to a public pool - pregnant or not. That being said I am Australian so maybe that comes with the territory...

with DD1 I was heavily pregnant over summer and used to head down to my local gym and swim loll around like a beached whale every afternoon. I wore a bikini, and no one batted an eyelid.

I certainly wore a bikini when 6 months pregnant - and lounging round the pool with a lot of DH's submariner colleagues. No one (dared) say anything! Grin

The reason I wore the bikini was because all the pg swimsuits I found (in the US) were AWFUL - baby elephants suits with frilly bits. Eeek.

Bikini with bra-like top is probably better than a swimsuit for support and fitting.

No idea why women shouldn't in general wear bikinis, unless you want to make men wear more covering outfits as well.

I teach aqua aerobics, and taught it up to 8 1/2 months preg, standing on the side of the pool, in bikini top and trackie bs!! It was waaay more comfy than a maternity swimsuit, plus it's bloody hot on poolside, so it was the only way to get some breeze to the bump!!! good for you, hope you liked the class and have a good rest of pregnancy!!
