Except we are not customers. We do not pay to be here. Yes, MNHQ will lose ad revenue if people leave, but as I use AdBlock they don't get ad revenue from me anyway.

It's like Skype. It's crap at the moment but I don't moan about that because I don't pay them a penny to use it.

Websites evolve. Evolve with it or go find somewhere else or start your own site.

of course we are customers. MNHQ receive revenue for ads because of its members. we buy the books published my MNHQ. we sign up for newsletters filled with ads which MNHQ get paid for. before PM was introduced I had the CAT function, that was paid for. warner holidays may not give a flying rats arse whether I am pissed off with mn or not, but they pay for advertising space on here because I and many thousands/millions of other users will be here most days.

If you use a free web service then you are not the customer, you are the product. The customers of mumsnet are (primarily) the advertisers.

I suppose it's an open forum so people are free to discuss whatever they like.
It's just that mourning the good old days / moaning about the sudden influx of crap doesn't exactly make things better.

Glitterknickaz · 11/06/2011 20:18

Also things change.... opinion changes.

Tee2072 · 11/06/2011 20:33

That's it, method. It doesn't do anything but make new posters wonder what the hell they did wrong or what they missed.

I've been here about 3 years and at least once a month we get some 'Oh MN is so crap now' posts.

No, it's exactly the same as it's always been.

thisisyesterday · 12/06/2011 11:45

but people wouldn't advertise here if it wasn't for members.
