it will be a waste of the HV time, as dd doen't interact with "strangers" she hasn't seen the HV in over a year so to her she is a stranger.

the HV here does a home visit to do the assesment = a big clean up as well as taking a day off work

YANBU if you have no concerns
Although have to say DS and DD both had a ball at theirs. Nice lady getting them to draw stuff and play with toys. And free books and toothbrushes. But our clinic is less than 5 mins walk away.

YANBU but I did get some books and crayons so we were happy. No toothbrush though. DD is also shy with strangers but it was a big room with lots of toys and she did play in front of the hv.

Theres a 2yr check up? Fuck I'm 4 1/2 yrs too late for DS' then. Grin

He's fine btw so I guess if your happy then theres no obligation - and apparently not all children get an invite. Hmm

my dd is 2 a week today - I'm still waiting for the HV to be ready to do her 1 year check that we were told we needed but that they 'weren't doing at the moment'. not even going to bother calling about the 2 year. haven't seen a HV (or anyone beyond her immunisations - we have been lucky she is a healthy kid) since she was 4 months. I can totally see how kids fall through the system as ours certainly has and we have done our best to keep her registered with all the relevant doctors/clinics etc.
feel terrible writing this as the only experience i have had of HV was good - just very limited! I'm sure it is not them just a lack of funding that leads to this.

Where I am I only had to fill In a form. Wish I could have had a home visit. Its all so different down south- as far as I know ( before I get flamed).

DS1 went for all his check ups
DS2 hasn't been since he was 8 weeks old and is very healthy.
