to think that DH should let DS have some choice in what he buys for him for father's day

not just puts something up on ebay and says he wants that. DS doesn't even know what it is so can't see the point in buying it.

RE : DH upset about mothers/fathers day 'rules'.

Maybe a book on parenting and selflessness ? Wink

He has completely confused fathers day (home made card, bar of choc and plastic badge with 'best dad' on it) with Christmas.

Fishing reel ha!

Lucky DH is getting a Beast Quest book - Ferno: The Fire Dragon.

I received Amictus: The Bug Queen for my 40th last week from DS1- it was about a rather large Praying Mantis. Do you think he was trying to tell me something? Grin

Go with your DS and buy the star wars lego. Then tell your DH to grow up and stop being ungrateful.

YANBU. DD will be getting her dad a giant Toblerone which she then help him munch, and a home made card. Job done!

Perfectly ok of your DH to ask for such a boring gift this for his birthday but to me, fathers/mothers day isn't like that. Mummies and daddy's should be grateful for the homemade tat/other questionable gifts their DCs pick out for them.
