She is lovely, she was great on here and when I spoke to her off board. Am not a local member- tried that an they were a bunch of in fighting oddities whom i could never vote for, but caroline has some great ideas for welfare etc.

Yes kat there are some people who can speak for themselves: my great friend who is a student, popular, active... and has severe CP and no voice. He is as effective an embassador for disabled people as could exist and without wishing to be aptronising becuase he is a laugh and a great mate, I am humbled by his achievements.

Then there are boys like my ds3 and I am his voice and I will screa\m for him every day becuase he needs me to do that. I do not need to worry about those with a voice (actually I do in some ways becuase the neurodiversity movement within ASD drowns out the needs of the more affected on occasion- a problem with a spectrum I guess) but I will worry about those who do not have a voice. If that pisses off those whoc an fight for themselves well- they can argue that can't they? Whcih is the point.

And yes BIL is a wanker.

As for politics tis simple: as a carer with a large brood of children with arying needs I wasn't scared under the last government (hated other things about them- especially Iraq- mind) and I very much am now.

Simple, really. Maria Miller is not ashamed that disabled people will potentially end up homeless, wankers like my uber-Tory BIL are happy to say my children cannot be afforded.

I know laods of decent tories as well- and plenty of wanker lefties- but from pure politics I felt safer (in terms that we would not lose our modest rented house and be forced into B&Bs and needing foster care for the more severe boys as a result) before.
