YADNBU. I fed my youngest ds until he was 2.7. Unfortunately dd couldn't feed at all so had to express which I did for a year.
I am pregnant at the moment and fully intend to breastfeed for at least 2.5 years. I really can't be arsed with all that sterilising palaver.

I'm not upset. I think its a smug thread about a thread so responded accordingly. :) And I fed DD for 9 months so no breastfeeding hang ups here

s'funny how some people lose weight through feeding and others lose it when they stop, isn't it - why is that, does anyone know? I lost all the baby weight very quickly (2w) and fed DS until 23mo - and then started to put weight on again - mind you that might be because I found it hard to give up my extra 500 cals a day (just about the amount of cals in a bar of G&B milk and almond chocolate)Blush

Thread about a thread or not - bf'ing isn't a guaranteed way to lose weight. But I'd still like to know why not...

KristinaM · 05/06/2011 21:10

So would I thumb witch. I am in the " never lose an ounce until I stop " camp and I wonld like to know why Envy

ZXEightyMum · 05/06/2011 21:15

I was ravenous when BF was all that DS would have. I used to have unwrapped kitten fingers ready on my bedside table to munch during the night when DS woke.

But I still lost weight very quickly initially, back in jeans within a week with both DC. My dentist is probably the overall winner what with the night-time chocolate.

I suppose it might be because everyone's metabolism is different. Some people can eat more or less whatever they like and not get fat. Me, I hoard fat stores while breastfeeding (and eat like a pig - I am ALWAYS starving) and last time, my paltry weight loss slowed until it started going on again at the 20 month mark. Blush This time, DS2 is 5 mo and I think I've lost about 7lb since giving birth. Pah.

BumWiper · 05/06/2011 22:35

Hahahahahaha unless my figure is pumpkin shaped it ain't ever coming back.

Madreamer · 05/06/2011 23:02

I've lost Most of my post baby weight - I eat loads but relatively healthy. Still bfing ds @ 14 months.

MCos · 06/06/2011 00:51

My DD2 was a big (9 lb, 2 oz) and hungry baby. I EBF for 7 months, and lost 2 stone. And ate like a pig at the same time! It was fabulous!

Only problem was that I continued to eat like that once I stopped BF, and the weight went back on again. And now I'm a stone heavier than before I got pregant with DD2, and am trying very very hard to shift it again. But the chocolate habit has become very very ingrained.
