about the sale of "adult" pre-teen clothes to be banned in huge shakeup

In fact I am extatic that at last all the complaints to the M&S staff and voting with my own feet to other shops has at last alerted the Government and of course the Retailers that I for one don't like the sexy nightwear for 8 yrs olds or the constant black, glitter and shine of their day clothes.
According to the Guardian I'm not alone ... what do you think? Hurray for a policy that might keep our children playing rather than worrying about fashion or their weight!

just to add I would much prefer my dd at 5 to walk around naked on top than put her in a bikini bra.

BooBooGlass · 05/06/2011 09:00

My dd went to a party yesterday and got a playboy bunny necklace in the partybag. The girl was 7, my dd is 6. It's really opened my eyes that people are losing sight of what is acceptable. TBh I was disgusted and it's gone straight in the bin.

I don't understand M&S's policy on bras either, I went in and asked for my size and was told they only stock it in the 'angel' range, none of which are under-wired or supportive, or flattering in anyway.

I am 22 year old married woman, for goodness sake, age does not = size Angry.

Similarly, as someone else mentioned, plenty of teenage girls need a lot more support than teenage bras offer.

A bra is not there to make us look sexy for men, it's a practical piece of clothing, and I feel it's wrong to ban or limit what is available based on this mis-conception.

dexter73 · 05/06/2011 10:04

The angel bras do come underwired.

fatlazymummy · 05/06/2011 11:52

What a load of patronising rubbish. How on earth does glitter =slut?
Really, feel free to dress your own children in 'little house on the prarie' outfits if that's you like but don't try and impose it on other people.

DaisyDaresYOU · 05/06/2011 13:15

Erm what's wrong with glitter? Confused

I agree with Littlepurpleprincess.

Some teenage girls need far more support than a cotton flimsy childlike bra. There is no way I would buy a bra that is not underwired. I am not a whore, just a woman needing a bra to do it's job.
My dd is 14 and I never have a problem finding nice clothes for her. Fortunately she doesn't go for the pole dancing whore look. I feel sorry for children whose parents seem to have no sense of boundaries. The playboy incident BooBoo described would leave me agahst.

ragged · 05/06/2011 13:31

Sorry, but it's unenforceable and market forces will prevail -- plenty people out there want to buy this stuff for their children.

gerardway · 05/06/2011 16:55

The Angel underwired are very flexible plastic NOT wire. Not sure why it's important but the lady in M&S stressed the point.
