Do you make them stop it or assume the people in front don't mind??

Or do you think if the people in front DO mind, they should move?

Ooh, I hate the kickers on planes as well. I wouldn't mind if the parents were trying to stop them, but sometimes they even turn it into some sort of f'ing game.

bluebobbin · 02/06/2011 19:47

I would be embarrassed if either of my kids kicked the seat in front and I would tell them to stop immediately. If they did not stop, I'd sit them on my knee and try and stop their feet kicking and if they didn't, then it would be home time.

My friend has the monopoly on this. On a recent trip with our 3 DCs 5,6,7 the 5yo was kicking the front seat and she threatened to take her out.

We were the only ones in there Grin

She said it was the prinicple - and I agree.

exoticfruits · 03/06/2011 07:26

I don't understand why it is so difficult just to tell your DC to stop. Hmm

mymummyisasquarehead · 03/06/2011 07:45

Why should someone else move because of your child?

STOP THEM KICKING.

simples!

bruffin · 03/06/2011 07:45

I find it's the adults that are more of a problem then the kids.

I had to ask someone to turn their mobile off last week. They were texting all the way through the film and it was shining straight into my eyes and she wasn't the only one, there was another mobile to the left of me which was also very distracting.

galletti · 03/06/2011 07:52

Couldn't you just say 'trips to the toilet', Lorenz. Yes, I don't like kids kicking seats/bad manners in cinemas either. I also dislike the increasing gratutious bad language and unecessary words on Mumsnet, and no I am not a prude!

poopnscoop · 03/06/2011 08:27

'I also dislike the increasing gratutious bad language and unecessary words on Mumsnet, and no I am not a prude!'

Galletti, although an interesting thread, I too find the swearing here very off putting and foul... the 'shtter', 'Jsus H Christ'.... 'C*nting'.... disgusting on an open forum. Puts me well off. Not exactly a good advert for Mumsnet either.

Very grown up Gissabreak.

It's a great thread... we all hate it when parents don't parent properly... but the language is unacceptable.

jasminetom · 03/06/2011 08:41

or perhaps I should be expected to turn around and smile at you, conveying the message "wow, I am so impressed, your little one has a kick far advanced for his age, you must be so proud"

HOW has no-one mentioned the Wittertainment Cinema Code of Conduct?

Rules for everyone, I think.

poopnscoop · 03/06/2011 09:05

Gissabreak, so you enjoy swearing AND skiving... no hope for you (shakes head)

Wink
MmeLindor. · 03/06/2011 09:07

I cannot help thinking that Poopnscoop and Galletti are not going to be happy MNetters.

Sorry, but MN is a forum where swearwords are used (and I think that "shitter" is a fairly mild one". I am not fond of the word "cunt" but sometimes a well placed "fuck" is pleasing to me.

Is texting in the cinema a fairly new thing then? I can't think that I have seen it much here in Switzerland.

Apologies for the random punctuation in that post.

I am a huge James Bond fan Blush and was very, very excited when Casino Royale was released at the cinemas.

It turned out that most of the people there to watch it were massive Bond fans too as when two chavs young men started misbehaving, talking loudly, changing seats, shouting "chimp" at Daniel Craig, they were audibly told to stfu by several people. THEN the attendant came swooping down, told them to stand up, then he escorted them out, to the cheers and whooping of an entire cinema Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/06/2011 09:21

I took my DS and niece and nephew to the cinema yesterday (to see kungfu panda2 ) There were two young boys sat behind us that had thrown popcorn which had landed on my lap, they must of been making trouble for others because halfway through the film a member of staff came and had a word, I was very mature and turned round and said "ha!" and stuck my tongue out. The looks on their faces was priceless.

TheCrackFox · 03/06/2011 09:25

There are plenty of websites that don't allow swearing - I suggest you go there.

bupcakesandcunting · 03/06/2011 09:30

Netmums don't swear AND have glittery wanksplats tickers!

Have fun!

Hammy02 · 03/06/2011 09:33

There should be zero tolerance. STFU, turn your phone off, control your kids or fuckle off out.
