A friend of mine (who knows my ds1 has ASD and I almost certainly have it too) told me at the weekend about a funny T-shirt he had seen

"Autistic Children Rock"

is that funny, to you? Or would you be offended?

I think it is meant to be offensive , but I suppose if she doesn't know the double meaning then I would maybe forgive her .

googling it, it does seem to be sold as a raising awareness thing, so obviously someone thought it wasn't offensive

but when I thought about it some more, I thought "I bet loads of people would be offended by that - I'll ask MN"

I find it slightly amusing as a cheap pun, but not 'funny', certainly not memorable enough to tell someone abot it.

I think it's funny (in a black humour way) but also offensive.

Bupcakes - rocking back and forth is a very common autistic behaviour

as in rocking to and fro bubcakes, an occassional coping mechanism to autistic and some other sn children to help with sensory overload or stress.

It is not meant to be offensive - it is about raising awareness.

Do I think it's funny? No. Do I think it is offensive? No.

And I think it is better that the ' I'm not naughty, I'm autistic ' T shirt that also raises awareness.

Cannot see why it would be funny, would be hoping it was some kind of fund raising/positive message.
