To worry about dental floss?

I know flossing is a Good Thing but AIBU in worrying what happens to it all?

This may be a good or bad sign but I am beginning to ponder on this sort of thing again.

I used to throw it down the loo because I hated it sticking to the bin. I suddenly realised that this was Bad and it must end up in the sea strangling the fishes.

But what happens to it anyway. I mean its bloody indestructible isnt it? You can hang your washing on it if you find yourself on a camping trip without a clothes line. I know this is true because I read it in 'top tips' somewhere.

Are there mounds of it building up on ships looking for somewhere to dump it? Is it sitting in landfill with a half life of 1000 years?
Are their eco friendly alternatives.

Am I just going a bit menkle?

Please dont flame me. This is my way of not thinking about all those DLA/Benefit threads that are doing my head in.

sorry, but this made me laugh. Only because it's the type of random thing I end up thinking about
I wouldn't put it down the loo. I wonder if there is some kind of eco type, but that defeats the purpose because it would shred away as you flossed. Like those flushable wipes that disintegrate as you pull them out the packet
I use the harp floss, can't cope with normal stuff

If you throw it in the bin then it goes to landfill and they put grass over it and turn it into a beautiful golf course.
I saw it on tv.

only golf courses. The dental floss is what marks out the edge of the bunkers

I'm not sure if all landfill sites get turned into golf courses or what, just remember seeing it and being surprised and it looked really nice!
Can't remember where it was though.

You can send it to be recycled into strings for violins.

They could invent a new everlasting type that you could just re-use without ever having to throw it away.
Would mean less golf courses though.

Why not? We have washable sanitary towels and baby wipes.

Or is that just string?
