Just wondered if anybody else is worse off since they came into power?
i work 16 hours a week as single parent
Child care is £88 a week term time and £120 half term.
In april i had my tax credits cut by £65 a week!
I am really really struggling at the moment.
Just wondered if anyone else is the same ?
I dont just mean single parents and mean families too !

If Labour supporters havent got 'toffs' and 'ideological cuts' and 'thatcher' arguments they arent left with much.

Oh sorry, forgot 'not our fault'.

People arent really listening to them any longer, thankfully. The nation has seen through the lies and misdirection.

MonstaMunch · 01/06/2011 13:29

lol, its such a shame that we arent living in the Utopia that the 13 years of Labour created any more isnt it

It was such a land of milk and honey through those years and no mistake Hmm

maypole1 · 01/06/2011 13:32

I know the chancellor did a deal and got in through the back door and the union picked their new leader

He married under public pressure and dispute the cuts carmine is still doing well they shout the odds and yet won't tell us their plan

onceami - welcome to the real world. the large national company i work for got rid of cost of living increases about 15 years ago. I haven't had a pay increase any where near inflation for the last 8 years - despite always getting good appraisals. still at least your pension should be OK - ours has been reduced and we pay more and i consider myself lucky.

and whoever said its only the poor that suffer - you are wrong - we have a decent income but we are being stung in all directions by both labour and conservative govs.

if you are a SAHM at least you have the chance to do some form of part-time work so presumably this could offset some of the tax credit reductions? Even if its only bar work in the evenings?

IntergalacticHussy Did labour really care about poor people? Yes, they may have provided benefits but they were responsible for one of the worst decisions, IMHO, to affect the lower end of the labour market. The influx of unskilled migrants from Eastern Europe has had a huge affect on the availability and wages. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that I can get my car cleaned inside and out for £10. I have nothing against these hard working people who will turn their hand to anything to earn a living.

I do wonder how our supposedly intelligent leaders thought this would have anything other than an adverse affect on the labour market. It's not exactly rocket science, is it? But then I suppose that presumes that people actually want to work rather than exist on state handouts.........

dreamingofsun · 01/06/2011 14:34

cyclops - research shows that most immigrants are labour voters - thats why they allowed it. they obviously took their electorate for granted and thought they were idiots. thankfully the last election showed that they weren't all as stupid as the labour gov thought.

Cyclops99 · 01/06/2011 14:46

I know dreamingofsun. They used the excuse that there were reportedly 600,000 job vacancies that couldn't/wouldn't be filled by uk citizens so they imported some more potential voters. At the time they could have got tough on the long term workshy but of, course, they didn't want to make that unpopular decision. And now that a few changes are afoot the Tories are getting the usual 'evil Tories' comments.

It's a good job that I'm not in charge as I don't think enough is being done.....

EU rules mean anyone can come and go from the EU.

We can go to Albania if we want to :)

Yes we are much worse off. Might even be homeless at the end of the yearConfused
All I hear is cuts, and they hurt those that are already struggling most.
The large corporations however, when they make large profits, get to pay less tax (is this insanity?!).
Everything is being cut, and so is our poor old economy (lastest forecasts have been cut again). Most of Europe is growing faster than us.

So many people losing their jobs. Bills and food prices rising. I dont see where this magic private sector boost will come from, unless they are paid out of our taxes.

Make business keep the law. Disability people are soft targets for a cowardly govt The Tories lied about "All in it together" most of the rest is lies.

Cyclops99 · 01/06/2011 15:18

luvvinlife when the bulk of the eastern european countries joined the EU we had the choice of capping immigration at that one point. We were one of the very few, possibly the only one, who didn't.

The problem is that businesses are going under due to a drop in consumer purchasing power, caused by:

-the cuts and constant doom warnings from this tory government. Fear rises, consumer confidence drops, and so does their spending.

  • High unemployment, many people being made redundant, many more in fear of losing their jobs, resulting in reduced spending.

ScousyFogarty. Benefit cheats are hardly soft targets they often take years to catch and often no the system. Just as well as a rich "toff and his accountant "

If you want someone to blame then blame the bad back crew and those who are simply clamming because they are fat or have a sti if so many people were not abusing the system then it wouldn't need to be over hauled.

The labour lefties allowed the welfare sate have so many holes you know things are wrong when you have 4 generations in one house who have never worked and that its not a one off thing

maypole1 · 01/06/2011 15:36

And it's because traditionally the working class always voted labour thats why thy thought they would bribe people with benefits but somthing was missed in then master plan these people are not working class because they don't work.

These non working types are more likely bnp supports as you often see in many poor white non working class areas as they can blame the brown guy down the road for the fact they have chosen to have five children and live in a two bedroom house when they never worked a day in their life

Glitterknickaz · 01/06/2011 15:38

Benefits CHEATS are different to those claiming disability benefits. You're obviously confused, being as DLA has the lowest fraud rate of any benefit going.

microfight · 01/06/2011 15:43

Yes but not because of the Tories. I don't get any tax credits or anything but my tax has jumped significantly so my net salary is considerably less (around 8% less actually) and my expenditure on basics has gone up. So, yes much worse off thanks to Labour screwing expenditure up and global banking sytems!
