ds had been very ill apparently with a virus ((high temp, sick, bad cough, not eating) according to 2 doctors and the hospital. he was off school for 2 weeks. He went back to school Wednesday just gone but came back out of school terrible again so took him BACK to the docs. Was told to go straight to the hospital as the doc thought he had pneumonia.

Got to the hospital and a chest x ray confirmed he did have pneumonia.
We have been in hospital since Wed evening and he was discharged this afternoon so we're back home now.

The run is tomorrow at 11am. ive been looking forward to it for months and have been training hard. So this isn't a decision ive come to lightly.

ds is way too weak to come to london for the day to cheer me on. he's lost so much weight aand he still gets out of breath and chest pains when he walks more than a few mins. my dp's sis has offered to have him for the day so i can still go, but i just cant bear to leave him for a whole day when he's still quite ill. I want to be with him and comfort him

i will ring the charity on tuesday and see if there is another run i can book a place on so that the money ive raised is still being earned. Do you think that is ok? will my sponsors understand?

i feel like im letting people down

ahh thanks AliceWorld, but il PM you once i have another race lined up - i feel really bad for not doing it tomorrow so will feel better about it once i have a replacement race (even if sponsors would be ok with me not doing it, personally i wouldn't be comfortable about asking people to sponsor me for something i dont end up doing)
also as it was my first ever proper long distance run i would prefer to find a replacement rather than just not doing it Smile

a link will be on its way in the next month or so GrinGrinGrin

It's fine - don't even give it a second thought. DC's come first. I'm sure that your sponsors will understand - after all the money has still gone to charity. Even better if you can do the 10km at a time in the future, when your DS is better.

I hope he gets better quickly Grin.

Agree with the other posters saying they wouldn't mind that you couldn't do the run - the money is going to the charity not to you, it would be ridiculous to have an issue with you not doing the run.

Hope your DS gets well soon, poor thing.

When I sponser people I look at it as a donation to the charity. I really wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't expect you to do another run in place of this one.

hope he's feeling a bit better today

yes thanks he seems to have perked up a bit today. i made him sleep in my bed last night as i was worried about his breathing, as his oxygen levels had been on the low side the few days previous, but he seemed fine. we've been chilling and relaxing Smile

I spoke to some of the people who had sponsored me and they were all fine about me not doing the run

although i have now found a local half marathon which is mid july. i have decided to apply for it just for the challenge

although got to step up my training now as its 13 miles whereas the previous one was only 6.

but it begins and ends 2 mins from my doorstep so would be silly not to apply

gunna try and raise a good amount of money this time (of course i wont ask the people who already sponsored me!)
