I want to go to this Nat Trust place near us to see the rhododenrons - it's absolutely beautiful, gorgeous views, 80 different species etc. We always go this time of year, and every single bloody year (for at least 12 years) DH brings his camera and takes photos. Close up, not close up, very very close up, from far far away. It always ends up with me hissing "I'm not waiting for you any more" as the kids disappear into the middle distance, and we're always barely speaking as we return to the car.

And then, and then - nothing. He labels them on his laptop, he never prints them off, no one ever sees them again. Maybe he uses them as his porn-alternative - I have no idea.

This afternoon I am putting my foot down. I will smash the camera (and did I mention he spent £500 on the camera without consulting me - admittedly this was 8 years ago, but still) before it goes in the car. AIBU?

have you tried him on Roses? or would he consider this unfaithful :)

kazmus · 29/05/2011 19:14

and easier to spell!!!

AwesomePan · 29/05/2011 19:20

no kazmus - the jackboot has no truck with the beauty of early-summer blooms. IN that dark world public consumption of beverages wins every time.

I have a beautiful rhoddie bush in my side garden - he can pop up here and snap til he is satisfied, and then share a private pot of tea.

Bumperlicioso · 29/05/2011 19:27

I know the feeling hassled. Whenever we go any where dh insists on taking his huge and hugely expensive camera and camera bag which means he can't carry any other bags or the baby Angry

Punkatheart · 29/05/2011 19:29

We went on a cruise and mine took endless pictures of the sea. Even he agreed they were pointless, boring and just showed endless ocean...

Hassled · 29/05/2011 19:44

:o at photos of the sea.
And Pan has read him well - he has no time for roses. He does like a clematis though. I think there may even be a clematis subfolder on the computer.

What's he like in the sack? I bet he goes off like a firecracker.

You could always try the "I'm going without you" fakeout. Works on my 3 year old when he's dwadling...

GentleOtter · 29/05/2011 20:23

Here is something for him to look at later Wink

AwesomePan · 29/05/2011 20:28

But they aren't his photos of rhoddies, GO. It's like "Readers Rhododendrons"!!

YABU. I adore rhodies. If you can't appreciate your husband send him round here right now. I'll have him snapping, printing and framing rhodie photos all over the place. :o

I've had a shitty afternoon, let down horribly by someone I considered a friend and you speaking of rhododendrons has taken me right back to when I and my Grandparents used to enjoy them at a local park when I was a child.

Happy days. :) Thank you.

In my youth i used to enjoy a spot of Rhoddie Bashing (not a euphemism either!) with a conservation group. Invasive little blighters they are too.

sugarrushed · 29/05/2011 22:27

Yadnbu, I work at a National trust property famous for its rhoddies and am bloody sick of the sight of them ha ha! On mass they look really pretty but close up shots is taking it a tad too far.
