AIBU by thinking this is so wrong. Food shops destroying food rather than letting homeless have it.

Just seen my MIL who works for a well know cake shop.
This is her 1st week there. Anyway at the end of the day she was told by her supervisor to throw all food out like cream cakes and sandwiches and to pour washing up liquid over them. Why? She said, supervisor said cause I don't want tramps eating it. She was horrified and so am couldn't they have taken it to a homeless shelter?

In all fairness the majority of drug users I work with are not homeless. Homelessness is caused by lots of things not just drugs and alcohol- mental health problems, learning difficulties, care leavers, ex service people and victims of domestic violence.

Back to the point, shops can sell edible out of date goods, as long as they are clearly labeled as out of date and there price is reduced, our corner shop sell lodes of out of date goods and has been doing so for ever.

Having just read the "You know when you're skint..." thread, this seems like a particularly stunning form of utter madness Shock
