Honest to god, I'm no stalker, but in a thread I was reading, someone let something slip (something to do with where I live), and I did a quick google, and the person is quite prominent in a certain field. That person is a regular poster, and now I feel quite strange that I know who they are in RL.

Now I'm on a bus yesterday, and I see the person walking along the street. I didn't go out to find a particular person, it just almost happenened (apart from the one google).

AIBU to point out how easy we might be identifiable?

Crazynanna. I like the pentacostal church thing. Many things will have changed since I was there

exoticfruits · 24/05/2011 11:35

I change details so I don't think that people could identify me.

PinotGrigiosKittens · 24/05/2011 11:40

Abs Grin vair funny!

QuackQuackSqueak · 24/05/2011 12:06

confuddledDOTcom How did she know?!

confuddledDOTcom · 24/05/2011 12:11

We were joking about bump names and older children getting too used to them and she recognised mine.

Firawla · 24/05/2011 12:11

crazynanna i am from holloway, not seen you though!
i think if someone who knows me sees me on here they could probably work out who i am without too much difficulty, i am not bothered, its not as if i have said anything top secret or Shock so big deal

crazynanna · 24/05/2011 12:14

Firawla Try the pubs and the 99p store Wink

smallpotato · 24/05/2011 12:21

I know where someone lives... On a thread about primary school catchment areas she mentioned the school down the road from me and that she lives in the road opposite mine. If I ever meet someone in RL who lives on that road with school age kids I might be tempted to ask are you xxx from mumsnet, but I dunno, it would be a bit weird!

QuackQuackSqueak · 24/05/2011 13:33

Does anyone know who I am?

Fleurdebleurgh · 24/05/2011 13:42

Im pretty sure some mums from school are Mumsnetters. I hope to god they dont find me.

NerfHerder · 24/05/2011 13:47

quackquacksqueak- are you a v confused duckmouse ?

QuackQuackSqueak · 24/05/2011 13:56

Or a duck that's swallowed a mouse?

Hulababy · 24/05/2011 14:02

I'm very identifiable on here, ESP as I also have photos on my profile. It wouldn't take anyone very long to match my online identity to my real one, my game, my dd's name, town I love, etc.

But I don't put stuff on here that I don't want others to know or that I would be embarrassed by others reading.

If I have something to say that I don't want linked to the real meal, I have a couple of name changes. Although this is very rare.

dawntigga · 24/05/2011 14:13

So what if I am?

Can'tSeeThePointTiggaxx

confuddledDOTcom · 24/05/2011 14:32

I think I've met you tigga... It was awhile ago though so could be wrong, I'm rubbish and matching online names with people when they tell me.

I still want to know who the MNer is who told me she was one but wouldn't tell me who because she wanted to remain anonymous!

NerfHerder · 24/05/2011 15:16

Ooh confuddled- that's just mean! She has completely the upper hand, not fair at all.

It's weird but I always feel like I know dawntiggga too... but even with her photo on her profile, I'm sure I've never met her! Confused

I live my internet life exactly like my real life, so why would I care if someone on here recognised me or googled and found me? I did get pissed off once when someone off another forum found my DH on facebook and messaged him a link to a thread I started about our relationship, because if I had wanted him to read it I would have shown it to him and that was bloody cheeky and they clearly just wanted to damage my marriage, but he just ignored it.

I think if people post personal details about their job, location, real name etc then they clearly don't mind being outed and tbh that's the sort of person I would rather chat to on here - open people not pretending to be something they aren't.

dawntigga · 24/05/2011 17:35

I've got one of those faces :)
