To think I should have said what I thought?

Last year I worked in a shop, the only one in the village. The owner became ill and the business was in trouble. Her partner eventually found someone who would put money into the business. On the day he was there to fact-find, an alcoholic, troublesome, woman customer came into the shop, took a dislike to the backer and assaulted him physically (sadly the police were not called). The business closed soon after and I have not had a full time job since and the village has not had a shop.

He immediately withdrew his offer of finance, saying that "If that's what your customers are like I do not want to be associated with this business." Trying to be fair, it was the first time that she had behaved like this so it was horrendously unfortunate timing!

In the intervening year I have not seen this woman so I thought she must have died (of drink). But no, I was in the supermarket today, rounded the corner and walked straight into her...and she tried to engage me in conversation...NO chance!

I would have liked to have said to her "Whether you know it or not, or care at all, your actions cost me my job - why do you think I could possibly have any reason or desire to speak to you?" But instead I said nothing and sped off with a face like a cat's bum Hmm

There would have been no point in saying anything.

You should have got a business loan and bought the shop yourself.

HeHeHe emsyj sadly it is not a normal village - more like something out of Children of the Damned. Residents would rather eat their own feet than venture into a new shop. Weird. I've moved BTW!
