we booked a football party today but he has been so badly behaved (hitting, shouting etc) that I feel like cancelling.

yes, yabvu

GypsyMoth · 23/05/2011 17:39

bit harsh!

how old and whats he behaved like that for?

worraliberty · 23/05/2011 17:39

It all depends.

If it's his 18th or something, that might be a bit rough

Hulababy · 23/05/2011 17:42

You can't cancel his party :( Or even threaten to cancel it.

If you did he would remember forever! Also, what abbout the other children who are looking forward to the party - not really fair on them is it?

I would look at another sanction for his current poor behaviour.

How old is he?

birthdays are not part of discipline techniques imo - every child has a right to a good birthday

deal with the bad behaviour by normal means without using his birthday imo

If you only booked today, when is his birthday?

You can punish him for his birthday that could eb a month a way for behaviour he has displayed today. And you can't cancel without giving him warning. Tell him excatly what he has to do to improve his behaviour and tell him that if he does not improve, then you will cancel. But if you say it, you have to mean it.

Thank you - I thought I was being unreasonable but wanted a quick straw poll. He will be 7 BTW and only booked today so no other kids know about it. He hit his younger brother and me and threw things about the kitchen. Everything is calm now - he seems to get possessed every now and then.
