Can I take my 14 month old to Disneyland???

BIL wants to go and take his DC's - 5 and 9.

They've invited us along, but is there any point in a 14mo going to Disneyland? Is there anything for her to do there?

Has anyone else taken a DC of a similar age?

Yep, took DD (3) and DS (16 months). he loved it. We all did actually. Didn't go to the parks everyday though-day on day off as it were. Have fun:)

I wouldnt personally.

Id wait until shes older and will 1. be able to go on rides etc 2. remember the 'experience'

I took one of mine aged 2ish and it was ok but tbh probably a waste.

FabbyChic · 23/05/2011 14:27

A 14 month old is really not going to be overjoyed are they? All they can do is look at Micky Mouse and Donald Duck and cooo. I would think it would be a waste of money.

IslandIsla · 23/05/2011 15:23

A 14 month old will have fun anywhere. If you want to go with BIL's family, then do.

One of my friends took an 18 month old and had a great time.

Personally I plan to wait until DD asks to go, but if its a family trip its maybe a different matter.

I see no reason why not, if you fancy it. She'll be free anyway.

DD was 18m when we took her the first time and she had a fun time. If she can sit up on her own she can go on quite a few of the rides. DD loved the colours and the music and the buzz. She is laughing on pretty much ever photo and her eyes are wide open! DD was very verbal and very mobile.

I don't worry about the "remembering" bit. If they enjoy it at the time, then that is all that counts. Otherwise we may as well stay inside the house permenantly til they are 5 or 6 years old.

It actually started a long time love of Disney and theme parks fr DD and we are now off to Florida for the fourth time this summer and have been to DLP a few times too!

IslandIsla · 23/05/2011 15:35

I do agree with Hula about remembering it. You'll remember it, and DC will have a good time. Not much else matters - as long as you want to go too of course!

NettoSuperstar · 23/05/2011 15:37

It's a lot of money when they'd enjoy a home made puppet show just as much, and will have forgotten about it after 10 minutes, but if you want to go then no reason why not.

I took my then 1yr old half way round the world for ten weeks, she had a good time, but I don't pretend it was for her or that she'd remember it, she doesn't, and we went because I wanted to go.

mrsbunnthebaker · 23/05/2011 15:41

i wouldnt

but if you do, can you let us all know the dates and flight times so that i can avoid three kids under 9 on a 9 hour flight :)

Roseknowsnothing · 23/05/2011 15:51

I'm pretty sure they would be three of many! :)

I assumed this was DLP, France rather than Florida. Which is it?

If Florida I may feel slightly different depending on when you were going to go, the weather over there, etc.

Roseknowsnothing · 23/05/2011 15:58

No, it is DLP... I was just trying to give a witty response :)

:)

MrsBunn - I would imagine it would be impossible to find aflight to Florida at any time that didn't have at least 3 under 9ys on it. When we have mean half the plane has been children.

AprilMeadow · 23/05/2011 17:00

Yes of course you can!!

I have just returned from a two week holiday at DisneyWorld, Florida with my 4 children who are 6,4,20mths and 8wks. Ds1 was 12mths when he first went, dd1 was 13mths, dd2 was 7mths and ds2 was 5wks.

There are plenty of rides to go on or shows to see. It's also fun for the adults Grin

skgnome · 23/05/2011 17:07

if you want to go, yeah, go for it, don't do it for DC, beacuse 14mth is too young, but still I imagine a toddler will enjoy the characters and colours

MCos · 23/05/2011 17:13

As said already, only go if you want to go yourself.
Your LO will enjoy it at the time, but won't have any lasting memories of it. You will also enjoy it, and have some nice memories and photos.
But do it for you, not your LO.

We brought DD2 when she was 15 months, DD1 was almost 3. And we had a really lovely time. DD1 still remembers things from the trip, and DD2 is happy that she is in the photos, but of course remembers nothing of it.
