there is no where else where people are so amazingly lazy

MillyR · 21/05/2011 19:17

My sister used to have a job cleaning up in the cinema. People wee in the empty drinks cups rather than go to the loo.

nijinsky · 21/05/2011 19:26

Oh its disgusting. Its when you trip on it on the way out.

Salmotrutta · 21/05/2011 19:32

I was going to say "I see your cinema and raise you school pupils littering classrooms" ............ until I saw MillyRs post Shock

Don't think I've had a pupil leaving wee in a paper cup!

Zingylemontart · 21/05/2011 19:34

YASoooooooNBU. I would love them to turn the end music down and inform everyone that they'd be checking and charging extra for the slobs who've left their rubbish!

macdoodle · 21/05/2011 19:36

Actually I think YABU.
The prices for cinema tickets and snacks are frankly exorbitant, it costs me £50 to take my 2 to the cinema, and thats with mostly our own snacks.
The fecking least I expect is to NOT have to clean up.

HughManatee · 21/05/2011 19:39

At our local one, one of the staff waits near the door with a huge bin-liner, so no excuse. Some lazy feckers still leave rubbish though.

activate · 21/05/2011 19:39

agree with macd

agedknees · 21/05/2011 19:40

Cannot believe anyone would leave their own litter for someone else to clean up. Where is their self respect?

bluebobbin · 21/05/2011 19:44

I take my litter out but on occasion I have dropped something (like a sweet) and not been able to see it in the dark.

I cannot imagine what sort of person would piss in a cup and then leave it for someone else to clear up. I can sort of tolerate someone getting caught short and using a cup - BUT LEAVING IT?!

activate · 21/05/2011 19:45

have you never been to a cafe or restaurant - the waiters clear your table

charge me £4 for a tub of popcorn and £3 for a rehydrated syrup and I expect bus-boys

macdoodle · 21/05/2011 19:54

Apart from the fact I have never seen a SINGLE bin at our local cinema, are you suggesting for £50 fecking quid I take my rubbish home with me.
I am far from lazy, but I dont take my dishes into the kitchen at a cafe.
I have never pissed in a cup though Hmm

HugoFirst · 21/05/2011 19:57

but to take an empty bottle with you as you WALK PAST THE BIN
its slovenly

OP posts:
HugoFirst · 21/05/2011 19:57

if i am holding a drink, why would i then throw it ont eh floor as i am waking out past a bin?

bring back national service Wink

OP posts:
activate · 21/05/2011 19:59

agree no bins in cinemas that I am aware of

however there are staff whose job is to clear up the cinema between screenings - and picking up a cup or bottle from the cup holder is their job(and no big thing)

Oakmaiden · 21/05/2011 20:08

I always leave any rubbish tucked inside the cup on the cup holder. They are going to have to walk over there to sweep up the popcorn my children have dropped anyway.... And I have never seen a bin in the cinema.

Cazbaby1 · 22/05/2011 07:44

I think there is a big difference in leaving an empty cup and popcorn tub on the floor/in the cup holder, to people I have seen - adults and children - chucking wrappers from wrapped sweets such as starburst and food all over the floor.
Thankfully I have never seen anyone weeing in a cup at the cinema Shock

penguin73 · 22/05/2011 07:56

Would love too and quite often do pick bottles/coffee cups to hand to the person at the door with the bin bag (who looks at me as though I'm mad) but why are there no bins anywhere except in the toilets?!!!!!

Mishy1234 · 22/05/2011 08:01

YANBU. I have never understood why people think it's ok to behave like animals just because 'it's someone's job to clear it up'.

People do this kind of thing at restaurants too. Leaving dropped food under the tables etc. I think I saw something somewhere about someone leaving their toddler's poo on a seat (might have been one here)!

bubbub · 22/05/2011 08:07

you do pay for a service, not just your film and munchies, you pay for the seat, the facilities, the air con and for your stuff to be cleaned up at the end. however, there is a massive difference between picking up your carton and cup and sweetie wrapper, and someone who has spat half chewed sweets over the seats, thrown fistfulls of popcorn into the air and smeared ice cream over the seats which is far more common than just having to pick up a bit of rubbish.
i used to work in cineworld, and met my hubby there. he is still there as a supervisor.
staff are given approx 5 mins to clean a screen. in the summer holidays when the blockbusters are out they shorten the time between each showing and the time given to clean can be 2-3 mins at best.
the same staff who work the kiosk and tear tickets do the cleaning.
its a huge disgusting job and people seem to think its ok to behave like animals.
other treats left by the delightfull public are used condoms in the screen and piss and shit done directly on the floor of the bathroom and not the toiletbowl.
not to mention the vile abuse you get from people if they have missed their film, or its full, or they are trying to get their clearly underage kid into a 15.
i quit after 9 months without even having a job to go to, it was that stressfull
working there makes you Shock at the human race!

HugoFirst · 22/05/2011 10:34

thanks!

There's no bins! Should everyone be walking out of the cinema and taking their rubbish home with them? I would never drop litter in the street or out and about, but I have never seen any kind of encouragement to cinema customers to clean up. I would do so if there was a bin near the entrance, and certainly if they were some polite signs.

But I do agree that it's not acceptable to leave popcorn/sweet wrappers etc all over the floor.

HugoFirst · 22/05/2011 10:41

if there was no bin near me on a station i WOULDNT drop litter. Id take it home as i am a PILLockAR of the community

not just throw it around like an OIK

OP posts:
DilysPrice · 22/05/2011 10:48

I class it like a cafe - it's the the cinema's rubbish (and let's face it, selling you popcorn and drinks is where they make their money) and unless they've specifically provided drop off points and asked you to use them then it's their responsibility to clear it away. the popcorn spillage is always going to need cleaning up anyway.

But of course there's no excuse for being vile and it is good form to make life as easy as possible for the staff by leaving empty cups in cup holders and shoving all your sweet wrappers inside them.
