I'm babsitting tonight, so have access to Sky TV. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show!!!

I know it's complete cheese, but they are just doing the big reveal and I'm sobbing on the sofa .

I've often sobbed when watching it. Some things some families have to cope with don't bear thinking about.
And the horrific conditions some live in, in the wealthiest country in the world have to be seen to be believed sometimes.
But I do sometimes wonder at the practicalities. How do some familes afford to run the houses afterwards?
And how do you clean the windows/change lightbulbs in those ridiculously high ceilings?

MissPenteuth · 20/05/2011 20:44

I used to watch it all the time at my Dad's (he had Sky). We moved a few years ago and we only have Freeview so no EM:HE anymore :( I used to cry at pretty much every episode Blush

Oh I remember being pregnant with DS and watching it when it was on non-stop for an entire weekend. There was a heatwave and I was sat on the sofa in just my underwear sobbing.

So then 2cats2many there's only one thing I can say to you....

MOVE THAT BUS!

I love this program, but yes Nanny the practicalities bother me too. In lots of them they give them a fund of money towards running the house, but not all.
I nearly always wonder how many hours a week they will have to spend cleaning!!

2cats2many · 20/05/2011 20:46

They have just told tonight's family that they have established a home maintenance fund for them, so they don't need to worry about running the house for a while. I also watched one where they made a point of putting in super energy efficient everythings so that the family could afford to actually live there afterwards.

I watched one the other week where the husband was on tour in Iraq. They lived in a house full of damp and the ceilings were falling in. They sent the mum and 2 children to Disneyland and suprised them with a phonecall from the husband. The woman was saying how good it was to just hear his voice and he then walked into the room whilst talking on his mobile. I was howling. infact I feel quite tearful just thinking about it now...

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 20/05/2011 21:03

Ty Pennington......swoon!

Nanny0gg · 21/05/2011 11:34

I wonder what happened to Preston. I really liked him.
And I think Michael is great - beautiful taste.
Most of the women really irritate me (except for Paige)

springbokscantjump · 21/05/2011 12:51

Amazing aw that almost made me well up and I didn't even watch that one.

The things that make me go hmm are the way they do up the kids rooms - you have to hope they really really love fairies/dragons/disney characters for a very long time otherwise parents now have a major redecoration to do. The other thing is that some of them live in quite crappy areas - surely that's just going 'rob me!'

Plus do they have no planning laws??

thelittlefriend · 21/05/2011 13:08

Oh I love this prog too. Years ago I had laryngitis one bank holiday weekend and watched it back to back for about eight hours each day.

papooshka · 21/05/2011 13:14

oooooh I love it too and I love Ty...but why does he shout so much!! I always end up crying too.
