To say I'll start the diet tomorrow?

Because I've been soooo good today. Drinking those horrible slimfast milkshakes. Sacrifing chilli and cheese on my jacket potato for lunch, and having just cottage cheese instead. And while DS has been munching on a digestive biscuit, I'm stuck with carrot sticks, as we're out of fruit...

So, to make matters worse, got in a while back, and the pizza hut menu has been delivered... I can postpone the diet, right? Come on, get your judgey pants on... Pick up that gavel... Grin AIBU?

Rather "helpful" friends keep coming out with the "you don't need to diet" line... Hmm I have a BMI of 27.5. I feel fat. I shouldn't have to justiify my fucking decision to start dieting to them should I? Angry

They WANT you to stay fat, it makes them feel better

cyb · 20/05/2011 13:52

Keep it quiet, just lose weight quietly and gracefully Wink

DontCallMePenut · 21/05/2011 17:25

Cyb, thank you, hadn't thought of it that way; even though said friends who came out with the comment are particularly waif like.

My dyslexia nearly caused an AIBU post earlier. Did soup for lunch, and somehow misread the calorie count. Somehow, misread 80kcal as 806kcal... Grin I nearly had a coronary!

Exercise. Forget all this living on carrot sticks stuff. I've been doing the Shred for 3 weeks now. Thought it wasn't having much impact but have just weighed myself and have lost 6 llbs just this week. My size 14s are lose on ym for the first time in about 5 years. I have been eating what I fancy, but have noticed that exercising sorts my cravings out a bit. Honestly, life is too short to deny yourself the odd pizza.

Can you get just a small veggie pizza and share with someone? Ask for extra veg. and half the amount of cheese. Have one piece (if you cut it into two thin slices it feels like more) and a giant salad with lots of "goodies"--avocado and a few nuts will make you feel full. Eat slowly. Then make a giant pot of mint or camomile tea to sip on afterwards and go for a walk. By the time you come back I bet you won't feel hungry.

Hey don'tcallmepenut your line 'Rather "helpful" friends keep coming out with the "you don't need to diet" line... ' struck a chord, some people can be saboteurs to your weight loss, other friends my genuinely think you are 'fine as you are' but if you want to lose weight than go for it. It takes a lot of willpower but I find having a goal to focus on helps, one poster said wedding shopping would be gutting....I find the same, a little motivation or else....make your own low fat version of pizza...how about getting either a large pitta bread, cut it in half and use that as the base or a tortilla wrap and put your own toppings on it? You would use way less than pizza hut or dominos, good luck!

moondog · 21/05/2011 17:59

You need proper food, not crap like 'shakes'.
How can it be right that eating less costs more? Hmm

Lambskin · 21/05/2011 18:02

Pizza Express do a range that are around 500 cals with a load of salad in the middle. I haven't had one but they look really yummy, why don't you treat yourself to one of those instead. You'll feel angry with yourself if you cave now.

My friend is always going to start "after the birthday meal", "after the holiday", and "after the weekend" - she still weight 22 stone and has been like it for 8 years!
