To wish my neighbour would stop it?

First AIBU, please be gentle.

I have a 3 year old DS and a 6 month old DD. DS has just started going to a nursery / play group a couple of days a week. My next door neighbour's DS has just started gonig too. She also has an 18 month old DS.

Now whenever I drop my DS off and nursery and return home, she appears at my back door with her younger DS and remains in my house until it's time to collect our elder children from nursery. I'm getting very annoyed with it. I enjoy time alone with my 6 month old baby, I enjoy quiet time to my self when my baby is having a nap and I dont' want to have to entertain her and her younger son all day.

But I'm too embarassed to say anything. AIBU in being fed up with her?

YANBU that's the worst part about being close to neighbours...getting rid of them when you want to be alone.

Really all you can do is be tactfully honest, or make excuses...saying you've got stuff to do or whatever.

YANBU. So not to offend, why not say you plan to use the nap time to have a long soap in the bath swiftly followed by a "see you on the pick up"?

I work from home a lot so have that excuse. Could you make up something to that effect?

SoEmbarassed · 19/05/2011 00:04

We didn't used to be that close. It's since our DS's started gonig to the same nursery. That's what started it. We didn't spend that much time together before.

I would be very annoyed too .

Maybe you could change your routine a few times ,go somewhere different straight after drop off (if that is possible ?) give her a chance to break the habit ,she might see she likes some alone time also ?

I realize that will be a bit of a pain ,but a few times just might do the trick ?

I would do as Doley suggests; after a few times of you going out your neighbour will take the hint.
