Not to feel like writing an absence note

DD1 has had various odd days off school this year, for various minor reasons. All totally genuine and I have sent her in sometimes when she really wasn't very bright. Now she's had 2 days off because she's being coughing and snuffling with a vague bug (the locum gave her some antibiotics, but I'm not sure they did much good) combined with hay fever, Whatever I write I think its going to look a bit feeble even though she really wasn't well and had had very little sleep.

Just say she has a chest infection and is on antibiotics. Not far from teh truth really, and sounds valid enough?

Punkatheart · 18/05/2011 23:35

But what if lots of parents didn't write notes? There has to be some sort of system - otherwise all is chaos. She had a bug. That's all you need to write..

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 18/05/2011 23:37

Just say she's been ill. Do you need to be specific?

blackeyedsusan · 18/05/2011 23:37

dd is off school with an respiritory infection... we have visited the gp and been given medication...

think i still owe school a couple of absence letters... oops Blush

ChasingSquirrels · 18/05/2011 23:48

I would ring/e-mail to say she is ill and won't be in that day - I wouldn't think to follow it up with a note when she returns.

If the school wants a note, just write one saying she was ill and had to see a Dr.

Re the anti biotics, they won't make her feel better...they just stop the spread of infection.

Blackeyedsusan, that's perfect, a slight exaggeration, but it'll excuse her coughing in lessons for a bit. I've even written the thing and pressed print Smile (No hand written note ever leaves here my spelling and handwriting are dreadful - DH's spelling very good, but his handwriting is even worse than mine)
DD1 is dyslexic, so only 10y DD2 is allowed to handwrite anything vaguely important.
