for not ringing her mum

dd (5) has a friend for tea after school tonight. When I picked them up from school, the friend's lip was quivering which rapidly turned into full on tears and sobs of, "I want my mummy, I want to go home"

I told the friend I would take her home and then call her mummy- of course now they are home they are playing fine and all tears etc have gone- should I have still rung her mum?

No, unless it had continued over a prolongued amount of time then it's perfectly normal! When her mum picks her up just mention she was a bit teary at first but then settled right in.

No, but I would mention it as the girl will more than likely tell her that she was crying.

no YANBU - agree with the above

I would tbh but tell her she is ok now. Parents here often text or call when they get the the child home (I assume to let me know they haven't fogotten to take my DD home with them)...
