Past week or so been getting horrendous headaches like someones hit me across the head with a iron bar like I am suddenly hit with this throbbing headachy and just have to go to sleep its fine at 10 or 11pm but been getting it at 6 having go sleep and then up late and up all night so trying stay up till 11pm but my head is killing me I heard something interesting today that aparantly the baby eats the fat up in your brain so you need fatty acids but fish not recommended cause of mercury just this special oil mix so looking into it dont know if that is the reason that my head hurts. Is my baby eating my brainnnnnnn!!!!!!!! Got this advice off a chiropracter.

think you should have named this thread "is my baby eating my brain?" would have been the most classic thread title!!

I think it could be hormonal. I suffered a week of migraines at about 6 weeks preg.

I would go to the dr. Ask for a blood pressure check - I have high BP and always find if my BP is too high I get headaches. Agree that headaches in pregnancy shouldn't be ignored.

Am sure it's nothing, but worth checking for your own peace of mind

yer defo run it by mw though :)

don't take ibuprofen when preg! Paracetamol is fine, and codeine based tablets are Ok too, but you should see Dr or MW first. (codeine might make you constipated, though I codeine a few times while preg due to head aches and a back injury). Get your BP checked, drink lots, get your eyes checked (your prescription can change while preg), try something nice and relaxing (get DP to give your feet a massage!)

My GP adviced against anything except paracetamol.NSAIDS -non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs affect the flow of blood to the placenta. I'd had a RTA so DD (16wk pg)had been through enough without risking that.
But for your own piece of mind ,please get it checked out.

I had these - was in absolute agony - went to a chiropractor and they went away for good after 4 sessions, just a thought :)

I had migraines before I got pregnant. I was on a high dose of sumatriptan. When I got pregnant, it got worse and my Ob/Gyn gave me pain killers - not as effective as Sumatriptan but it helped and I continued till I was 7 months. Talk with your doctor, maybe s/he could prescribe something for you?

Omega 3 Deficiency During Pregnancy
Having an Omega 3 deficiency while you are pregnant can prove very harmful to you and your baby. Your baby takes Omega 3 from the foods that you eat. The nutrients cross the placenta, helping your baby to grow and develop. However, if your baby does not get enough Omega-3 from the food you eat, he will begin to take it from your own stores. Researchers believe that these stores may be located in the brain, which can result in a loss of up to 3% of your brain cells. Omega 3 deficiency during pregnancy is linked with:

?increased rates of postpartum depression
?increased chances of having a low birth weight baby
?increased chances of preterm labor or cesarean birth

been reading about omega 3 dont know why its only in pregnacare plus not prenecare the suppliment

I always have bad headaches/migraine but when I was carrying my daughter they were terrible. Didn't have any with my son. I think I was told it is something to do with hormones. Different hormones levels for a girl.

It's horrible and I feel for you. Paracetamol are safe though. Poor you.
