to be shocked that the minimum sponsorship donation for a dog at the dogs trust is £8.67?

i thought that was rather a lot of money!

ds saw their stand in the shopping centre this morning and asked if we can do it. So i said ok as i only expected it to be a few £££ per month or whatever you can afford like most charities - i pay £3 per month to RSPCA as that was the post i could afford to pay at the moment.

i couldn't believe it when he said its that or nothing because you cant just pick the amount you want to sponsor/donate.

If it wasn't for ds i would have said no.

AIBU for thinking this amount is steep? i know they have lots of dogs to help etc but surely £2-£3 per month is better than nothing?

Guide dogs are making me Angry I had a regular donation that I cancelled 5 years ago when I had DS. They STILL send me raffle tickets/begging letters etc even though I have told them to stop. I'm sure they have wasted all the money I gave them in postage and printing.

juicy haworth cat rescue would welcome your £3 a month and every penny goes to the cats welfare all the workers there are volunteers :)

i think i need to re assess my charity donations.

what about the dogs trust? does the money from donations actually go to the dogs? i know some charities have to pay employees but some charity employees are on large salaries ive heard

IME, the smaller the rescue the more likely your money is going to be spent directly on the animal as most are staffed by volunteers, entirely in a lot of cases. They are also very happy to accept donations of food, old blankets/duvets etc.

From what I understand about the sponsorship of Dogs Trust, if you sponsor from a T.V ad its £1.00 per week, at an exhibition at the N.E.C showing caravans and campervans recently we saw a Dogs Trust stall and was told it was £2.00 per week, I said that its only £1.00 on T.V, I was then told I could do £1.00 and they would then add me on to someone else who could only pay £1.00 so they would get their £2.00 per week that way, after signing up it came to £4.43 per month?? Why the extra £0.43, well it must cover admin. sales persons wages (they are not volunteers) who must be on commission! Whatever, I was glad to sponsor for £1.00 and you can cancel at any time, I will monitor it and see how I go.

Of course there will be a minimum to sponsor a dog. You can donate any amount, but a general donation is different to a sponsorship.

There are more than 4 weeks in a month eg 31 days etc so it prob evens out at £4.43 rather than £4 for 28 days.
