the wife is being lined up for an eye cattaract op. Are these things straight forward. How did it go for you; or your mum or dad.?

I assume all operations have a success rate? (Channel 4 Didpatches )
are doing a thing called "Under the Knife" tonight 8pm. They are usually pretty good on serious subjects.

I turned down a prostrate operation But you never know if you are doin ze right thing. Its suck it and see.

ummm, may I politely suggest that starting an AIBU thread with a reference to "the wife" probably isn't going to go down to well.....

WRT to the op, my grandparents have had them, was a pretty straightforward job. You might want to check the NHS website for more info, and post this query on the health thread.

TOO well. FFS.

If the wife was bothered I would not say it. (She is pleased to be a wife)
Have you had a different experience> (one in 3 get divorced)

I cannot imagine an ANGRYGNOME....that name must tell a story

Watch Under the Knife on channel 4 tonight. It may make you less angry

People I know who have had a cataract operation had a straightforward time. I think medically speaking, it is a fairly straight forwards operation with low risks of complications.

Glad your wife is ok with it.

I'm named after my DS who had the look of a very angry gnome about him when he was small. So not a very interesting story at all I'm afraid (Envy at MNers with much more interesting names!)

Hope the op goes ok Smile

Thanks Lesley and angry....Its being lined up today for next week I probably get more tense than my wife an ex nurse

Aftercare is VERY important. No washing up hoovering ironing etc for at least a year. Breakfast in bed every morning. Cake, chocolate and wine on demand is essential. A large bunch of flowers once a week and dinner in an expensive resaurant ditto.

With this level of care there should be no post op problems.

LadyThumb · 16/05/2011 13:30

My Mum (90) has had both eyes done. No problems at all. Just make sure that she follows the aftercare completely. My Mum's biggest problem was not being allowed to bend down for a couple of weeks. I hope all goes well for your wife.
