A recent tv progamme did suggest there was 200 homeless ex soldiers within 2 miles of the Centotaph.

Even if its only half true, its a bloody disgrace.

People do, of course , join the forces voluntarily; some even just because they cant get a job (Not too happy about that aspect) Are you?

SPACES....for single service leavers seeking accomadation (my ex used this)

sir oswald stoll foundation....supported housing for disabled/older/those with mental health problems

HOME BASE....for supported housing in London for single ex service personnel

ESHRA.....for older ex service looking for care home/sheltered

these are but a few,i'm sure the main problem must be awareness for those on the streets. some prefer to stay on the streets, hating any aspect of civilian life and some maybe need help applying for/approaching these agencies.

that was off the Haig homes website

new buildings are being acquired with the single ex service personnel in mind too.

i was offered a house on the Morden Haig Estate, the largest. wish i'd taken it now,but as luck had it i was offered choice of 3 properties at once!! took the wrong one i think with hindsight

If my lad wanted to join the RN, then he could and welcome, but preferably after a degree, which hopefully might get funded by the RN if he does engineering.

His father is approaching the end of his Naval career and will have done 34 years, and has had a great time; his uncle (my db) is in, as were Dh's Dad and my Dad as well.

The RNBT and the RNA also provide support for Veterans; but I am glad to see that the Covenant is going to be enshrined in law...DC is keeping a promise.

yes, scary teacher, DC is keeping a promise after pressure. Some commentators thought he wanted to drop it

I think the press are to an extent pushing the Coalition along. But, alas it is the Tory press. The mail and Torygraph look as though they would like to ditch clegg and co and have a full blown Tory govt.
