to wonder what reward I get for dh's inability to drive, load the dishwasher, cook, make tea, get dressed...

he came off his moutain bike doing some ridiculously challenging trail in Wales. went straight over a drop and broke both arms.

he keeps calling hiself a pratt and is totally apologetic. Personally I don't think the apology is necessary. But maybe a small token, a wee bit of recompense...

Both arms! Ouch..
Is there anything you've been hankering for...some hints could be dropped, you'll have a captive audience for a while.

Atwaroverscrabble · 15/05/2011 19:10

A kindle and a weekend off to enjoy it when his arms are better!

CurrySpice · 15/05/2011 19:12

Free use of his crdedit card on the website of your choice

BimboNo5 · 15/05/2011 19:14

To chortle at his stupidity. Best reward ever is that.

TrillianAstra · 15/05/2011 19:16

Both arms?! Bloody hell! Poor him - was he out in the middle of nowhere when it happened?

I bet he'll be straight back on the bike once the arms work again, won't he?

wilbur · 15/05/2011 19:19

Oh god, dh quite often goes mountain biking in Wales, am going to show him this thread! How long is he in plaster for? I reckon a child-free weekend at the very least should be your reward!

SkipToTheEnd · 15/05/2011 19:20

I agree with BimboNo5. Surely you must be able to set up some funny situations to giggle at :o

Seriously though, I hope he's better soon and you get some extra help from friends and family. A spa day or something totally selfish to let you rest up after your hard work.

upahill · 15/05/2011 19:21

A bit bloody tight to have a chortle! Not good. My son broke both arms in a MB accident and it's nasty. I was involved in a severe mountain bike accident 3 weeksa ago and still suffering.
Hatwomen have a think of a nice treat and I'm sure Dh will get you something good

2blessed2bstressed · 15/05/2011 19:21

First thought that came into my head when I read your post? Oh my God she'll have to wipe his bum too! Obviously I'd do it for those I love the most, but when it's because of his own daftness I think you need jewellery at the very least, and possibly a weekend at a lovely spa once he's better to get over your own trauma!

CurrySpice · 15/05/2011 19:22

Oh lordy, if it's longer than a week he'll be needing a wank too Shock

aStarInStrangeways · 15/05/2011 19:30

A weekend? Fuck that, at least a week's holiday with the friends of your choice.

rookiemater · 15/05/2011 19:36

Tickle him under the armpits

Why do people always suggest a spa as a treat.
They are hideous places on the whole.

I thought the OP was after something good!! Confused

squeakytoy · 15/05/2011 19:45

ouch!!! your poor husband!!! :(

if its any consolation, I have a husband who cant do any of those things either, and he hasnt got broken arms.....

yet!

MsFC · 15/05/2011 19:46

Watching with interest as DP fell out of a tree six weeks ago and has been on crutches unable to weight bear on it since. Leaving me to do EVERYTHING, including dealing with a 17 week old DS!

So far I'm going for a spa break and a silver bangle from Links...

MsFC · 15/05/2011 19:46

That was my first thought too Curry. Grin

TrillianAstra · 15/05/2011 20:05

at curry.

I agree with Maryz - if you look after him excellently he'll have no choice but to be lovely to you any time you are the slightest bit poorly, even if it's just a hangover. ("I looked after you when you came off your bike and that was self-induced too!")

hatwoman · 15/05/2011 22:19

I'm not whinging tbh. He's being great about it all. and I am sympathetic. I had a minor fall a couple of weeks ago and made a fuss even though it was just bruises - the thought of doing what dh did just makes me feel completely queasy. Seeing him hold his arms un-naturally lose and wince when he tries to use them is pretty horrible. off to the fractures unit tomorrow to see if he needs casts.

upahill · 15/05/2011 23:23

Maryz ie there a cut off point where you have to stop doing things that are fun?

(suppose I'd better take up knitting and fuckin cross stitch or gardening now that I am middle aged!! ffs!)

I know Maryz!

I was a little bit pissed last night!!

Saying that though after I had my rather bad MB accident a few weeks ago which resulted in my face being stiched at A and E and I hav scars and bruises all over my leg, and left hand side of my body and can't bend my arm I must admit there are times when I wonder why I MB, snowboard and cave!! I really should turn it in! It doesn't help when my Head of Service says things like 'Upahill you are too old for this now!!' Grin

WobblyWidgetOnTheScooper · 16/05/2011 09:35

Your choice of DVD/TV viewing. Because with arms in plaster he cannot get to the remote

And also the credit card thing :)
