To think my dd is a drama queen

I called my dd 13, she couldn't talk and was in Waitrose. She then called me 10 minutes later to tell me she had had an asthma attack, was feeling faint and headachy and could I come and give her permission so the medic/first aider could give her a paracetamol. I said no, I'll come and get you and bring you home at which point her headache miraculously disappeared. And then I found out out, when she couldn't talk earlier, she and her friends were being escorted to the first aid room while she was having lots of sympathy by kind first aid person. I picked her up outside 5 mins later and she was on one of her friends backs horsing around, laughing her head off, looking the picture of health.

Now, although she has athsma and I am sure she was breathless as she ran all the way to Waitrose from the park (about 500 yards) so she could use the loo, I am annoyed at her for
a) not telling me when I first called what was going on
b)for wasting this kind person's time when she should have called me as I am 5 mins drive away
c)because she is such a bloody drama queen - she has previous Smile
d) for not having her inhaler

I will write Waitrose a wee note to say thank you as they were very kind to her. Especially as she was using their loo and had no intention of buying anything Grin

Anyone else have a dd like this? Everything is so over the top.

I had asthma as a child and tbh although mostly I was fine if I ran with friends and got breathless I would worry it would lead to attack - making breathing more difficult. Lack of breath does cause headaches I felt having an adult was calming.

I do think you need to talk to her about being able to go out alone - and tell her if she can't handle it you'll have to limit her outings.

Absolutely. My DD will scream like she's being slaughtered over the tiniest graze, even if it's not bleeding. Yet, DD isn't bothered one bit about injections and needles.

Thanks Helium. I know she genuinely was suffering, it's just the not telling me bit when I called that got me a bit narked!

Maybe I should clarify - she could talk, just wanted off the phone. So not couldn't talk as breathless, just 'got to go Mum, can't talk now'.

Smile cymar. Mine too - she never has a sore throat, she has extreme voice loss which is always cured by a phone call from a friend. Or she has a migraine (never a headache), again an invitation to the cinema or out wi her pals can cure this Grin We went on hols recently, taking her pal who gets car sick, and surprise surprise, she now suffers from carsickness too. She wasn't sick once all the way from Scotland to the South of England.

And that is some journey Grin I got diverted by plane from Gatwick to Glascow and had to coach it back to Gatwick and then drive South.

Bet the 'Gotta go Mum, can't talk now' added nicely to the drama. Wink
