I will keep it decent.

My parents would never talk to me about sex. Thats where Hank Jansen
came in

He wrote sexy detective stories. (Long before your time?) He had women with tranluscent negligees and milky white thighs.

Looking back, a woman with milky white legs would look very odd indeed.
But that did not bother me when I was a 15 year old reading Hanks books.

He would probably seem tame now. I used to borrow paperbacks from the market, adf get a 50 per cent refund on return. It was so long ago...before the Pill and c+ndoms

I still snigger at the name RalphGrin

I was confused by the Judy Blume books. In 'Deenie', she refers to touching her special place. I thought she was referring to her hip bone (ilium) and did not see the point.

Milly :) I did realise what she meant by her special place, although I could never understand why she kept touching it.

I got my youthful sex education from my mother's literary novels... was terrified for years that losing my virginity would make me bleed for hours like Frederica in The Virgin in the Garden. (It didn't.)

I definitely hid 'Forever' from my mum, come to think of it!

I heard Desert Island Discs this morning (!) and the interviewee was Molly Parkin. When she said her famous line about going to a bar, having a drink and a cigarette and looking for a stranger to shag it reminded me of reading her books when I was about 13/14 and I read the whole set. Blush
