to want a car seat for a Porsche 911?

I know, I know: a ridiculous car and not the right topic area either. I have posted in Car Seats too but am needing help urgently so thought I'd risk the wrath and post here too.

My DH has just bought a 911 and wants to be able to use it with me and our DS who is 21m. It'll just be for weekends, but it would be nice to be able to go out in it all together.

However, I am anxious about the car seat situation. Porsche offer a Junior car seat for Ds's age/size, but it is £350 and also I would feel much happier buying a reputable make, such as Britrax or Maxi Cosi.

Does anyone have a car seat in the back of a 911 and if so, which one?? Need to buy it today, ideally, and have searched and searched the internet without success so am turning to Mumsnet in desperation!

Thanks.

newbroom... I wouldn't dare! Always cringe when driving his current Porsche without DS. And all other road users seem to hate you / try and race you / won't let you change lanes...

Much happier in my nice sensible 5 door car with DS!

Respect to you, tokentotty. I find it a squash when it's just me and DH!

Have just looked at the Recaro; it looks great. We are in Nottingham - any good for a possible purchase?

my friend has a Recaro, really good safety features, larger Halfords shops stock them

Oh thanks, memphis, was wondering where to get them. Do halfords let you try to fit a seat before you fit it?

Blue My dh has a 911 Carrera and when he bought it 4 yrs ago he sucked up the extra cost and bought a Porsche seat for dc4 who was then 3. Yes it's expensive but so is the car....I've just looked at it again; it's actually a Britax Romer (can't do an umlaut over the "O"). It's designed for weight 15-36 kilos. I don't know if that would be appropriate for your ds if you could track one down minus the Porsche branding. It uses the 3 point seat belt and is a very snug fit. With the adjustable backrest and the fact the back rest comes off to make a booster, overall I think we'll eke out a fair bit of value.

Well am in North East London. Can check out what DH wants for it money wise and then you can decide if it's worth coming down for? That way my DH could probably show yours how to fit it. Afraid with just a couple of weeks left 'till due date delivery isn't an option!

no you have to be able to turn the airbag release thingy off. when the ex got his new car the other month it was not fitted this way so he sent it back, he can now switch it off using a key

he first got a porche a few years ago but it was wrtten off (crashed into by some women in a range rover in the middle of the night mmm) he then got a range rover, much better but i do not think he got enough attention in it so swapped it for another porche. its not a family car it is a car for young single persons car
