traditional shoes for boys

I have searched high and low for a pair of traditional sandals for my son finally getting a pair at Russell and Bromley in Richmond that were left unsold from last year. Why is it so difficult to find a pair of proper sandals for boys. Schools rightly do not accept pupils in open toe sandals for health and safety reasons and I think that the old fashioned shoe is considerably better for the developing foot. Start rite still produce a proper closed in sandal for girls so why can they not produce a unisex model? John Lewis the bed rock of all traditional children's wear do not stock anything either. I have written to Start rite and am awaiting their response.

Papillon shoes are brilliant for traditional children's shoes. They have branches in Victoria and Marylebone.

Google them!

I hadn't heard of Papillon before, just looked at their website; gorgeous shoes! Thanks!

I do not think you are been unreasonable. I also was shocked when I went to the shoe shop with my little one (3) the other day and they said that because he has an H fitting they would only have one pair and they would be school shoes (he is 3!!)

I would class \link{http://www.startriteshoes.com/boys/venture-scout-1\this} as a sandal.

Try the Shoe Station in Kew - they have a wide range of sandals for boys including some with a closed toe.
