to withdraw from this sale? ebay related

I recently won a bidding on a large table and 4 chairs, on the listing the seller stated it had to be collected within 7 days as they are moving house, no problem I thought.

it is a large table and chairs so I knew I would need to arrange a van to pick it up, no problem as I work for a large courier company I would bribe one of my drivers to go pick it up for me

Now this is the problem; the seller is saying that I cannot collect it till after 7pm and cannot collect it on the weekend, there is no way I can get a van at 7pm plus it is about an hours drive away from where I live.

What can I do?

If they are 'drip-feeding' the pick-up conditions AFTER the auction ended, then I believe you are not being unreasonable to back out of the sale. I presume you were paying on collection?

maybe contact the seller and ask her if a neighbour would be willing to let you pick it up from there , i have done collection items before and though i try to give a time that suits the buyer i actually have to be in the house aswell it might have been worth asking before you bid on it when it could be available if you cant come up with something between you it may be worth asking the seller to cancel the transaction in a way that she gets her fees back

I have backed out of sales on ebay when I have realised that a) the goods were not exactly as described and b) they have put conditions on after sale. Have you already paid? If not then just ask to cancel.

boilingpoint · 11/05/2011 10:04

No I havnt paid for it yet, I have also asked if someone else can be there but the answer has been no.

What do I do if they refuse to cancel? I read on ebay rules that you have to pay once you have bid else you get your account frozen

Advise that it did not say on the listing only after 7pm, ask them to agree to a mutual cancellation if you cannot resolve it. If they open a NPB dispute you get a strike against your account.

Your account won't be frozen, you can appeal a first strike saying the seller was unreasonable on his collection terms.

They should have stated in the listing that you can only pick up after 7pm, seems odd that they are in the middle of moving house but no one is about for you to pick up the table Hmm, i would back out of the sale.
