i like the health section. Its good to get other mum's experience and advise. I only have 1 and don't have many mummy friends to ask for help.

also for AIBU Blush

Loolah · 10/05/2011 19:32

overheard other mums talking about it in the school playground, came for a nosy about 6 months ago am always lurking on aibu and chat, although i have prob only posted about 6 times

CMOTdibbler · 10/05/2011 19:35

Aitch recomended MN to me. I lurk in a few places

Poochini · 10/05/2011 21:26

someone linked a right funny thread about laylandii pubic hair onto their FB page about 3 months ago and twas rofltastic so i trotted on over to MN to get a better look. I am now hooked.

I can be mostly found in chat but I do pop into other topics to get specific questions answered. I merely lurk in AIBU as I have no desire to get flamed.

I bought the Mumsnet book (Babies?) seven and a half years ago just after ds1 was born. Then discovered the site.
I spent 2nd pg on "Due in Dec 2006"(AH happy days!) Now I lurk in AIBU (But mainly click on last 15 minutes looking for bun fights or somewhere to impart my immense wisdom(NOT))

cookielove · 10/05/2011 21:57

I came because a friend suggested i may be able to advertise babysitting, posted in the wrong area, but was re directed by several people.

Stayed cause i love it.

Often found in Nurseries (cause i work in one) Potty training (cause i am a pro Grin) and AIBU.

Have sent my lovely sister this way, as she is now pregnant Grin so i have recruited (do i get brownie points)

Mamaz0n · 10/05/2011 21:59

I was searching for info on ASD. stumbled across the SN section and was drawn in by the absolutle ASD oracle that is JimJams.

I now float about all over the place. I join threads that interest me and don't stick to any particular topics.

blueeyedmonster · 10/05/2011 22:02

Had heard about it and had a peek.

The threads I saw were ammusing so I stayed.

I am mostly found on, chat, aibu, conception and behaviuor/development

tallulah · 10/05/2011 22:03

Left RaisingKids in a huff, after a run-in with a QueenBee over there. Needed support with my 13 yo who has ADHD.

Post wherever takes my eye.

mugglelady · 10/05/2011 22:04

Discovered whilst googleing for info when pregnant. Usually look at aibu/ relationships/ s&b.

Goblinchild · 10/05/2011 22:08

A forum I used to frequent closed, and I went a-roving.
Mostly found in SN, but also in AIBU and occasionally asking stupid questions on the feminist board until I get booted in the bum by more knowledgeable sorts.
Also on primary ed if the bait is interesting enough.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 10/05/2011 22:09

lurked for a few years whilst marriage broke down and shared pc with exh.joined properly once separated with own laptop!Smile
used to post on LP's but have since preferred food/recipes tho i do have a nosey elsewhere!

NulliusInVerba · 10/05/2011 22:35

I actually needed advice on something, but what led me to MN was whilst watching the Wright Stuff one week, Matthew Wright really has it in for MN! I wondered what his problem was really.

So I came here, posted what I wanted to ask, and have to say I was very impressed, got my first reply in about half an hour I think, lots of good advice.

I was given the impression that MN would be ....a load of snobby, middle class women bitching about everybody else and swapping Cath Kitson water bottle covers. Or something. Blush

Its actually a great mix of people and the few threads ive seen bitching Daily Mail style in the OP about unemployed, single or SAHM has always been met by a strong defence by the posters. Im impressed and intend to stay!! :)

kc0rns1lk · 10/05/2011 22:39

was asking for advice about something - had seen it mentioned in the Times. Everyone was very nice to me on my first post. Didn't get sucked in until a few weeks (or months -can't remember) when I logged on one rainy sunday

needed advice on schools, diets for allergies, G and T, found a whole heap of other stuff, changed my name a few times and it continually satisfies the voyeur in me! still get a bit anxious posting though, 5 years down the line!

galletti · 10/05/2011 22:45

Recommended by a work colleague 10 years ago, when dd was tiny, and I needed advice about something. Didn't realise it was so young then. Went to one of the first meet ups, even got my picture in The Times Supplement apparently - never saw it, was told by a friend at a wedding in Northern Spain! . Used to post, then lurked for a long time, name changed and back again.

oldraver · 10/05/2011 22:48

I was looking into Home Schooling and looked for that topic. I was a bit shocked by some of the replies being so anti HE and looked at other topics

AprilRose · 10/05/2011 22:50

Heard about it through my best friend, who I believe came here before/during/after her first pregnancy. Resisted joining for an absolute age (thought you were all going to be militant mumsy types... How wrong I was!)

Mainly lurk around Chat, AIBU, Relationships, but have more recently been led to post in the Doghouse; am pretty certain that's where I belong, despite having more feline companions than canine. Am very much looking forward to the day I can leap on into the realm of the TTC/PG boards, but I fear this current bout of singledom is going to prevent that leap from happening for quite some time. I trust you'll all keep a seat/yoga ball warm for me, I might join you in, um, 2014!?!

LynetteScavo · 10/05/2011 22:58

I had never heard of Mumsnet before I first posted. I'd googled "school refusal", found a link to Mumsnet and waded straight in with my first post without even lurking for two minutes.

I somehow got sucked into a thread about fruitshoots at parties, and laughed for the first time in 18 months.

I pot a lot on the baby name threads, even though I think every prospective parent should invest in a baby name dictionary, and never ask the advice of strangers on what to name their child.

Indaba · 10/05/2011 23:01

i've had some amazing help re outsourcing, school catering tendering etc.

fit2drop · 10/05/2011 23:07

Lurking on another forum , saw a link to MN because someone was going back to the other forum after deliberately baiting a bitch fest here and inviting people to come and "back her up" Came here for a nosey and the fact that the trouble causing poster (from the other forum) on here who was revered as a god(dess) on the other forum because of her smart arse nasty wit actually ended up being shown for the patronising prick silly non important person she was is and was firmly put in her place .

I have been here a few months , mostly in AIBU and chat but because I am a techno fuckwitterer I am still ambling around.

I like that just because someone calls you a twat on one thread they can be thoroughly supportive on another. Well, mostly Grin

Still not brave enough to go on feminist threads though Confused
