YANBU [shudder]

I, for one, will not be promoting Gransnet to the silver surfers in our families.

MIL could do with it - it'd be interesting to see how she took to hearing a wider variety of views on things. Although I think she might not be able to take being told that she was BU.

I am crying with laughter at thought of Mother of Madam Deathstare.

Mother of Mavis doesn't have quite the same cache, despite the fact Mother of Mavis is indeed quite scary, and don't get me started on MIL..

I would love my mum and my MIL to be on gransnet, but as they're both dead, that's not going to happen. Be grateful you have DMs and D MILs FGS!

Don't be so sure, Thruaglassdarkly - as Udderly has pointed out, it is 'the other side'.

I hope you weren't offended by my comment, Thuraglassdarkly; it was meant as lighthearted banter.

Your response struck a chord with me because today (yesterday) was the anniversary of a very dear relative's death.

Being human, we didn't always see eye to eye - she could be very opinionated and I'm no saint.

But I'd give anything to hear her voice again even if she was using it to have a go at me.

All things must pass... but if only time didn't pass so quickly.

You lot are reacting to GransNet the same way your children would react to hearing you want to friend them on FB :P

It is actually funny to see that intergenerational awkwardness never changes ;)

I an very glad that my DM and DMIL are both confused by computers!

Being able to come online and rant about them keeps our relationship in tact as I can be a bitch quite opinionated and do things my way!

We've always been here.

But I keep a low profile and avoid a few boards.

better than coming on here which my mother did Hmm

Also, you are assuming that they will just talk about us - I know my mum has much more interesting things to moan talk about!

CheerfulGran would be all "My DD actually disciplines my dear little perfect angel of a DGS, and occasionally even tells him no . AIBU to think of spiriting him away to foreign parts to get him away from this soul-crushing behavior?"

MIL wouldn't speak to anyone, except to drily point out mistakes in their posts every now and then.

It's not a bad thing as you just join up and say what you want in response to any threads they start!

Psml at mothermadamedeathstare ! I am scared already!

I'm on both. So far it seems fairly innocuous, with much bemoaning of how things have gone downhill since their day, lack of manners amongst the younger generations, diatribes against swearing, etc. Some of the natives are fighting amongst themselves to see who get to be the Queen Bee(s) and final arbiters of all things proper for Grans. I'm only 53, but I think I'll be spending more time on here than over on the other side "Waiting for God". Wink
