To ask how quickly your washing machine works?

Not a serious AIBU really, the uniform thread got me thinking.

I bloody love my washing machine, it does a 40degree delicates cycle in 30mins, I can add a 10minute fast spin to get the clothes really dry. A 40 degree quickwash takes just over an hour.

So when I do forget to wash stuff for Monday morning, I can do it quite late and get stuff dry on the radiators/tumbler :)

When we were renting the washing machine had no timer on it to say how long was left and a 40degree cycle took nearly three hours Shock

How quick is yours?

Some! Depends on how much dial twiddling my son has been indulging in. It as a thirty minute wash somewhere on the dial, but I mistrust it's ability to deal with things such as sweat, boy drool and mud. I think the wash we usually use comes in at about an hour and a bit. I may feed the machine later and take notice of it. Or maybe not...

slavewife · 09/05/2011 10:11

30 degree quick wash, 30 mins.

40 degree, 1hr 25 mins.

50 degree, 2hrs

plantsitter · 09/05/2011 10:15

We've got a new washing machine and I love it. Never thought I would be excited by such a purchase but it has a 15min quick wash, and sounds like a gentle breeze on a 1200rpm spin. I don't think I had realised how much the clanking sound of the old one was stressing me out!

confuseddotcodotuk · 09/05/2011 10:16

OP at the last place I worked we had the same issue! A normal, 40 degree wash and spin took well over three hours because you then had to reset it to another spin when it was done! I lived with 5 others and we were constantly fighting over the bloody thing Blush

LoveLeonardCohen · 09/05/2011 10:16

No Idea

Psammead · 09/05/2011 10:18

Quick 40degrees is 45 mins.
Quick 60 degrees is 60 mins.

The long versions of those take a couple of hours.

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 09/05/2011 10:41

Quick wash for less than 10 shirts .... 15 minutes!

sprinkles77 · 09/05/2011 10:44

30 deg cottons 70 mins, quick 15 min wash, 15mins. Old machine took 1hr 54 for 30 deg cottons.

ajandjjmum · 09/05/2011 10:49

Asda have just started selling a machine that does a quick wash at 12 mins. Our 40 degree was is 1 hr. 50 mins. Drive me mad. The quick wash is 30 mins., but does spin so everything takes ages to dry.

The clunking on our machine (3 years old!!) is getting louder, despite spending £80 to repair it, so I'm thinking about just getting a new one!

killingTime · 09/05/2011 12:47

3 hours + for any cycle through obviously spin, just cold water rinse ect are quicker. It also only takes 5 Kg which as there are five of us three of whom are young means its on constantly and we constantly have washing.

I so want a new one - when we bought this one we were flat broke and it was the cheapest and we had to have something. DH thinks the length of cycle isn't an issue - which I suppose as I'm around at now it not but when I do eventually get back to work - the washing is going to be a real problem with this machine.

supadupacreameggscupa · 09/05/2011 12:53

i need a new machine, takes about 2.5hrs for a 40 cycle. works though!

VeryStressedMum · 09/05/2011 13:01

30 degree takes 1 hour 2 mins, 40 degree takes 1 hour 10 mins and 60 degree takes 1 hour 17 minutes.
The esay care cycles take under an hour. Machine is over 5 years old.

constantlywrong · 09/05/2011 13:42

About 1.5 hours for the cycle we use - but then we wash nappies in it too.

MissingMySleep · 09/05/2011 13:47

Large LG machine, its great as the loads are 7.5 kg instead of 5kg, so less loads, but its about 2 hrs 45 for a 40 degree wash.

MissingMySleep · 09/05/2011 13:48

Would buy it again even tho it takes ages, cos its quiet and it does MASSIVE loads

ratspeaker · 09/05/2011 13:49

Cold fill

It says 1hour 40mins for cotton wash at 40
5 minutes less for same cycle at 50!

Thats for the full wash and rinse
the rinse alone says 45 minutes

7/8kg wash load

asdx2 · 09/05/2011 14:31

30 degree quick wash 30 mins
40 degree wash 1h 35
60 degree wash towels and bedding 1h 52
Time saver or mini load setting reduces the time by 10%

buttonmoon78 · 09/05/2011 16:07

38 min 35 deg wash. Use that for most things.

emptyshell · 09/05/2011 16:16

Ours was about an hour and a half this morning in the end - got the two loads done and out on the line by lunch and there's only hubby's stupidly thick polo shirty type tops still needing a bit more drying out.

Honest I've slaved away all day darling... I did accidentally nearly blow up the hoover (again) catching his mobile phone charger cord but I managed to untangle the evidence and hoover still works so I'll let him do the next lot of hoovering and claim death by natural causes on that front.

TheVisitor · 09/05/2011 16:20

All of you who only ever use the quickwash cycle on a low temp and use non bio, make sure you run a very hot wash with bio powder (to kill mould spores) around once a week or so. This will stop your washer from smelling.
