DD has swimming lessons at a local independent school on a Sunday. Many of the families using the pool send their children to that school. In recent times I am finding that dd will wait patiently for a shower to be free but the other children seem to be allowed to barge in in front of her. Today was the worse. As a shower became free another parent told his child to use it. I was gobsmacked. I just said too dd " There is a free shower, it's your turn now" Ididn't get any response.

Money doesn't buy manners, sadly. Not all parents are like this though and I'm sure they are the same at a state school.

Probably true. I guess I just expected better.

Some of the parents at ds's first independent school were like this. If one parent was talking to the head teacher they would interupt. Not all of them are like this though. Smile

I think that regardless of whether kids are at independant school or not, there is a general trend for some parents not to help their children develop any sense of manners or awareness of others.

What thegingerone said. All you can do is teach your own DC manners (which you clearly do) together with the confidence to speak up if others are rude and pushy and be proud of them for that.
