I can barely bring myself to write it, let alone ever say it.

YANBU, are the nethuns invading again?

wotnochocs · 08/05/2011 13:06

better than 'partner'.I hate that!

aldiwhore · 08/05/2011 13:09

I hate it but use it.... even worse, I often use 'hub' (but never 'hun') Blush

Odysseus · 08/05/2011 13:11

aldiwhore does "hub" then become "hubster"?

OP posts:
aldiwhore · 08/05/2011 13:12

Probably, to my shame.... I might try calling him by his actual name.

razzlebathbone · 08/05/2011 13:13

NinkyNonker · 08/05/2011 13:21

Definitely yanbu.

Lizzabadger · 08/05/2011 13:25

It is bad but "manshape" is worse.

smoggii · 08/05/2011 13:28

If you don't like it don't use it, I don't mind it, My Hubby isn't that fussed Grin

inchoccyheaven · 08/05/2011 13:29

YABU I call my husband hubby and he calls me wifey. Mostly to each other in cards etc but sometimes in company. I rarely call him by his name feels weird somehow, always calling Darling.

I do not however go around calling anyone hun, hon hunny etc and am not affectionate with people outside my family.

Odysseus · 08/05/2011 13:32

inchoccyheaven in company?? Is there a [bleurgh] emoticon?? Wink

I have never heard "manshape" - how utterly peculiar!!! That makes me want to laugh though, where as "hubby" makes me shudder.... Grin

OP posts:
wotnochocs · 08/05/2011 13:44

manshape!!!!
Does that apply to any bloke or just one's DH?

inchoccyheaven · 08/05/2011 13:46

odysseus I refer to him as hubby in company sometimes but don't call him it to his face then, is that more or less bleurgh Grin ??

Odysseus · 08/05/2011 13:50

inchoccyheaven I think it is marginally, only marginally, less [bleurgh]
Grin

OP posts:
aldiwhore · 08/05/2011 13:57

Oh I don't call him hubby to his face... I think its usally babe, darling or oi knobber.

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 08/05/2011 14:08

I can't stand it either, but nor do I like the D abbreviations on here which I find ridiculously twee: DD, DS etc. DH, what's that stand for then, DickHead? :o Also very confusing when stretched to include the whole family, is DS the son or the sister style of thing. Flame away, I don't care Wine

A1980 · 08/05/2011 14:11

YANBU it's pathetic.

How about all your Hubby's start calling you Wifey! LOL

deemented · 08/05/2011 14:17

I call my manshape er.. manshape... because thats what he is.

I have my reasons for calling him that. It doesn't bother him whatsoever.

I personally find it preferable to hubby or partner.

ilovesooty · 08/05/2011 14:20

Hate it: "hub" as well. Also "hun" and "hon" and "hunni".

And "the wife" is something my ex used ONCE when he thought I couldn't hear.

Samjam10 · 08/05/2011 14:25

Yuck, yuck, yuck at "hubby". People are always asking me about my "husband" and my partner about his "wife", but I don't mind that at all, bizzarrely. (Unless my partner really does have a wife somewhere. I would mind that.)

Flisspaps · 08/05/2011 14:32

"manshape" is only permitted to be used by deemented for reasons she has gone into about a billion times on here before.

Hubby/Hubs/Hub is just wrong.

VajazzHands · 08/05/2011 14:32

I call my dh, "husband" and he calls me wife Hmm

It started out as a cutey obnoxious thing we did when we first got married.. but 3 years on we still do it. It's not said in a sacchrine sweets "huuuusband" way either. Just "Oi Husband" way

DriverDan · 08/05/2011 14:34

I think yanbu to not like a word, I think you are bvu to be bitchy about other people's use of it. What does it matter to you? If you don't like the word don't use it. I think mostly DD, DH etc are used as most people don't want to refer to their family members by name on an internet forum and daughter, husband are a bit long and formal.

You probably don't know me deemented but I get fed up on your behalf having to explain yourself on every thread. The poster always backs down when they hear you out and probably wishes they hadn't said anything in the first place!

If you don't like a word, don't use it!
