Yes I know it is a daft programme but do the producers deliberately choose the contestants because they are not bright. Or am I just being an intellectual snob?

Who doesn't know that the Queen's coronation was in the fifties and The Beatles recorded songs in the sixties? Who doesn't know that yoga originated in India, or that Mars was an ancient God?

Do people not read, talk to other people, absorb information. They seem so superficial and......oh well, maybe it's me.....

We do like it, Betty. It makes us feel superior Grin

goodegg · 07/05/2011 23:25

Anyone like QI?

I cannot stand Steven Fry and think it's a big wankfest personally, but as an intellectual gameshow?

I liked the one Victoria Coren presented that was fiendishly hard puzzles. Can't remember the name of it though.

BitOfFun · 07/05/2011 23:27

That one is Only Connect. I have to admit that I find that one pretty hard, but I get the odd one.

QueenofDreams · 08/05/2011 07:07

Ooh DP and I like only connect. There are certain rounds I find I can do quite well. Others are nigh on impossible!

Punkatheart · 08/05/2011 08:11

Eggheads forever.

Even with CJ...

But don't you just want to punch Daphne in the face???!

ChippingIn · 08/05/2011 08:23

This season seems so much worse than last season. I really enjoyed it last time - this time it's more like having teeth pulled.

HecateQueenOfTheNight · 08/05/2011 08:51

So what you do - if you are pretty of course - is apply and pretend to be a bit dim. giggle a lot, get questions wrong and say something really stupid.

Then appear and unleash the real you and win the lot.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 08/05/2011 10:33

Oh I agree with carting CJ off, but please let me punch Daphne in the face. Just a few times.

Nancy66 · 08/05/2011 10:38

I think it's pretty representative of real-life. I'm constantly amazed at how stupid people are - especially the under 30s.

Punkatheart · 08/05/2011 10:43

Kevin puzzles me. He is so very miserable....

I shout at the TV a lot when we watch quiz shows and this in one I had to give up on. Young, beautiful and with almost no general knowledge skills seems to be the way to go on that one.

Slightly off topic but did anyone see Come Dine With Me on Friday? They had a young (28) and beautiful woman on that one who tried to name her five step-children but only managed to mention two of them (aged 8 and 10) before she stopped and said "I get confused with all the names." I think that might be the worst thing I've seen on CDWM. I think she'd be snapped up by MPD.

BagofHolly · 08/05/2011 13:38

Me and my brother have applied to go on MPD! I'm beyond excited! We're not through yet as they've yet to see us in the flesh - he's quite good looking but has a big nose, I'm getting on a bit and have enlarged pores.
We're going to pretend to be thick as mince, as that seems the way forward. If we get on, we'll piss it! I've already started thinking that we've already won, and am mentally spending the money! As a get-rich-quick plan, it's flawless!

BagofHolly · 08/05/2011 13:41

Takethisone, was she worse than the shocking weirdo who had a Ferrari in the garage and bored the kecks off everyone with his James Bond facts? Or the fella who had a picture of himself and David Cameron on the mantlepiece, and served bananas and squirty cream for dessert?!
My favourite was the woman from Preston who got so drunk she couldn't cook and passed out! Class telly!

Punkatheart · 08/05/2011 18:20

Oh good luck BagofHolly! Will cheer you on if you get through (I will be looking for your enlarged pores now!)

BagofHolly She was worse than Ferrari-James-Bond-Man, haven't seen David-Cameron-Man but I think I remember (laughing at) Drunk-Preston-Woman.

She didn't pass out but she did get very offended during the "guess how old we all are" game when someone said 29 and she was only 28. That was really bitchy of them. And she had the cheek to say someone kept getting her name wrong. At least they could (almost) remember what it was, unlike her with those poor step-children. Although they weren't poor, they were loaded and living in a very big house with a pool.

Good luck with MPD.

mousymouse · 08/05/2011 20:20
