DH's mother is visiting us from USA next month, we are booking a yurt to stay in for a weekend, all of us, to celebrate DHs birthday. He has not celebrated with her for many many years.

The yurt has one large comfy double bed (kingsize i think) with woodburner at the end, it is a lovely bed (we have been before several times so know this!). It also has 2 good sized double wooden futon beds, good quality, comfortable, on the other side of the woodburner.

DD will have one of the futon beds, and DH says that MIL should have the other one.

Now, she is in relatively good health. She is lively and energetic, fit and quite young for her age. However, she is 77 years old, 78 this year. She has just had two hip replacements over christmas, and before that a cochlear implant, so 3 lots of evasive surgery, so while still good for her age she is getting older now and more frail.

I said I thought she should have the big bed, just to spoil her a bit (she is also paying for the yurt as a birthday treat for DH), as she has never stayed in one before, and will love it, and we have stayed there before, much younger and able to comfortably sleep on a lower futon.

DH says, 'No Way!'

AIBU or just too nice and let her sleep on the futon?

Dear Dear Op I really want to go yurting. OH loves [the idea of] camping, I having spent a childhood under damp canvas bloody hate the thought of it, still have post traumatic tenting syndrome. But yurting looks like something I could cope with. Who/what company would you recommend? Ty in advance

And re your post, you are been lovely, DH, well I don?t think he?s been mean, but maybe he doesn?t want to acknowledge that his mum is getting older.
My OH pretty much puts his hands over his ears and sings LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA when ever I mention/try to talk about Mum getting older.

Ladies, once I have booked the last available slot for the week we want to go (today) i shall link the place we are going so you can check it out Grin There are several ones around the country though, which are all great, so will link a few. The experience is wonderful imo, there is a camp kitchen in all of them, plus fire pits, so all you need is food, clothes, lanterns (swathes, fairy lights...)

DH has laughed in the face of your comments Shock and says he will manage without christmas if his behaviour is not approved by father christmas. He said he accepts he is being mean, but he is still having the bed. He said 'i have been called worse things' And it is only a little tongue in cheek Shock

But now i know i am not being unreasonable, i am going to get my own way on this!

Love compo's suggestion on page 1! You are doing the right thing by offering her the double

Also can you pm me a link to this place? It sounds fab!
