To think this is just bloody rude

Friends of ours have just come to visit. We have a parking space but some bastard has parked in it without asking. I live in a private apartment block with secure gates so its someone who lives here (only about 30 flats)

I've put a note on the car telling them it would of been nice of them to bloody ask if they wanted to park there and not just assume because we dont own a car at the moment that we dont need it! As a result our friends have had to pay for parking and park some where else.

Its the 3rd time it has happened. How hard is it to knock and ask??

Buy a clamp Wink

Ambi · 07/05/2011 13:29

YANBU, that would wind me up too. Good that you've put a note on the car it should shame them a bit. Could you get a cone for your space?

She should have just blocked them in.

bittersweetvictory · 07/05/2011 13:31

I assume you dont have your own car so the person who is parking in your space probably thinks its all right to do so since you only use it when freinds visit ( which its not ) YANBU, if its your space then they have no right to park, you would probably be better tracking the person down and talking to them direct.

Itsjustafleshwound · 07/05/2011 13:32

YANBU - We have a similar issue and it drives me mad ! I really think that if they don't get the message (Have you put up a private parking notice??) and they don't respond to your polite messages there is nothing more satisfying than letting the air out of their tyres .... Wink

NoWayNoHow · 07/05/2011 13:33

I'm with BluddyMoFo - get your mates to park them in, leave a note on the car saying that if they wish to get out to come and knock on your door. When they do that, then you can just remind them that it is your parking bay, it's not the first time it's happened, and if they refrain from using your space in future it will prevent issues with them being parked in.

IMissSleep · 07/05/2011 13:38

All of the spaces have signs saying private parking and the flat number. I wouldn't mind if they asked! Our friends were too nice to do that, I'm not that nice!! I've left my window open so I can hear when someone goes into the car park. I'll go out when I do. No manners!

contemplates having a small glass of wine to calm me down>!

rude and annoying, mainly because your friends have had to pay

have a big glass of wine or the bottle to calm you down and search ebay for a wheel clamp for future offenders!!Grin

IMissSleep · 07/05/2011 13:45

I'll let the management company know. But if it happens again I'll report them and get the car towed!! Our friends live 3 hours away and have a 5 week old and a 2 year old. Just a pain in the arse because parking is really expensive here.

OP posts:
NoWayNoHow · 07/05/2011 13:45

Was also oing to suggest what madam suggested as a long term solution, with parking them in as short term!

All flats have management agents, I'm sure they'd do something if you asked them.

IMissSleep · 07/05/2011 13:46

Good idea helenthemadex

HRHPrincessZombiePlan · 07/05/2011 17:24

Def take the licence plate no and report to the management co. This is really taking the piss Angry - I could maybe kind of understand them using the space for a quick pick up/drop off, but this is ver unreasonable

TheGoddessBlossom · 07/05/2011 17:32

Next time stick the note on their car windscreen with butter.....extra annoying for them.... Grin

Viagrafalls · 07/05/2011 17:32

I'd make a point of saying just how much money it has cost your friends in parking and see if you can get some sort of contribution.

FakePlasticTrees · 07/05/2011 17:35

agree with HRHPrincessZombiePlan - get the licence plate to the management company - they should be able to track who's it is to avoid this in the future.

IMissSleep · 07/05/2011 17:47

Can't report it till Monday. Another friend needs to park there later as we are going for dinner. If it's still there I will knock on EVERY door till I find the
bastards silly people :)

OP posts:
ChippingIn · 07/05/2011 17:50

Why didn't your friends just beep the horn until someone came out?

I'd put on the note how much they owe you for parking and tell them you will report them if they park there again.

TheVeryAngryMumapillar · 07/05/2011 17:52

"Would HAVE been nice." not "Would OF been nice."
