OP my son has ASD and I found the Cerebra Guide very useful. There are things in there which you may not have thought of which are true of children with autism and ADHD. You may find that you are so used to dealing with your child's atypical or unusual behaviour that it can be hard to step outside and think about all the extra needs they have.

Available here: www.cerebra.org.uk/parent_support/DLA_guide

Good luck!

Do you need it? Are you entitled to it? If the answer to both is yes then claim it.

Florence - because it's easier to care for a child when you have money available to spend on meeting their needs, especially when that child has additional needs

Florence-children with disabilities cannot always join the types of clubs that mainstream children do. They require traveling to and that becomes more complex and expensive because of the nature of the childs disability. My daughter has communication problems but gets so much pleasure out of contact with animals, not easy in a city. Her DLA pays for activities that i wuld not be able to afford otherwise and could not change to cheaper alternatives in the way that i could with a mainstrean child.

The income group that you are in can impact on your disability and vise versa. DLA was set up so that disabled people, quite rightly, do not suffer the worse effects of poverty.
