The current one about the Easter eggs as a party bag gift has opened my eyes.

Some posts down the thread (not that long) it becomes clear that the OP is not criticising a party bag she has received, but canvassing opinions for a party she is about to give.

Yet post after post repetitively slams her for being ungrateful/critical/getting her timings wrong (no it is not yet 3 weeks after Easter, but will be by the time her DC's party happens, people!) etc. etc.

That thread's not about anything sensitive and I imagine the OP is unbothered. But if people are generally posting on AIBU without actually reading/understanding what's been said, then their opinions are pretty worthless (though nonetheless strongly expressed). Perhaps we need an emoticon for 'No idea what this is about but thought I'd shout my random prejudices anyway'.

So, go on, AIBU? (feel free to mention if you've read this or not :) )

I had set the OP posts to be highlighted but didn't know i could highlight my own too, hecate. Have now set mine to highlight in the colour of 'lavender blush'. Adds a certain feminine delicacy to my opinions...

I too am lavender blush wolfhound. My MN is positively lovely now.

Champersonice · 05/05/2011 14:20

I do believe (and fear) too many lavender blushes are emerging! For I am too! OP, however, is light lavender Smile

wolfhound · 05/05/2011 14:22

perhaps we need a 'lavender blush thread' where we discuss doilies, pot pourri and other fragrant ladylike matters :) So un-MN.

For some inexplicable reason my OPs are green Confused Why did I choose that?

Ladylike matters - we are not back to menstruation conversations again are we Grin

MissVerinder · 05/05/2011 14:29

oh, God! what's wrong with green curtains? First the sofas...... Where will it end?

VajazzHands · 05/05/2011 14:33

I go in to AIBU and usually find 20 threads that look interesting I read the OP and someties follow the OP down but do not read every comment.

As for the easeter thread its hard when the OP deliberatly makes up something in the OP then changes her story. I'd say it was the OP's fault she keeps getting those comments not the posters.

wolfhound · 05/05/2011 14:35

Oh no, not menstruation, exit. That's not ladylike at all. My goodness. We might possibly mention being - er - indisposed perhaps.

YANBU
I've had this before on some threads

NulliusInVerba · 05/05/2011 15:19

Simple answer would be for posters to not post a question, then wait 300 answers, then tell the rest of the story.....

If its a small thread people will read it, but most are not going to read 400 posts to look out for updates!

SueSylvesterforPM · 05/05/2011 15:28

Its happening again on one of mine lol

cest' la vie I suppose
