How much do your DPs drink when they're with the DCs?

H and I took our three DCs (age 5 and under) out for tea to the local Wspoons, He had three pints. I got pissed off and told him I thought that was too much when we had the kids too, but then bit my tongue and tried not to make a bit deal out of it and have a row in the restaurant. Haven't brought it up since.

AIBU? Does that sound like a lot to you?

If you were sober and it was just you DH drinking then I don't see the problem, but I see you have other worries re your DH's drinking anyway which probably made you feel pissed off re this.

If myself or DH are home alone with thew DC we don't drink, if we are together either just one of use drink or DH will ahve a small run and coke and I will ahve a large glass of wine but that would usually be more than enough for us.

On another note, I used to babysit for my cousin (much older than myself but going back about 10-13 years ago now) He and his wife were then, as they are now, both social workers. In fact my cousin is the head of children's services in our local area. He and his wife used to leave me a bottle of wine to drink while in charge of their children. I was as I would have never even entertained the idea of drinking when in charge of anyone else's DC and never touched a drop. This was even though I was a carefree 18 year old (showing my age a bit now lol) at college and out most weekends drinking anyway.

I think what I am trying to say is that everyone has different idea of what is normal WRT drinking when in sole charge of DC. I didn't do it then and DH and I don't do it now as we would not be comfortable having huge amounts of alcohol while in sole charge of the DC.

Thanks everyone. I've signed up to mydrinkaware.co.uk to keep a track of what we're BOTH drinking for a while. I've noticed I drink loads more now I've stopped bf, am keeping H company and also getting over a crises.

I know I will only be able to see what H is drinking at home (he's pretty vague if I ask him when he's been out), but if that is on or near the normal limit then I'll know he's way over. Not sure what I'll do then, be back on here I guess!
