Seeing him rolling out of Boujis at 3am looking half cut has made me wonder.....

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 01/05/2011 21:55

What would happen though if the baby was a future King?

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 01/05/2011 21:57

But it wouldnt be though...

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 01/05/2011 21:59

Ok, I mean if William had a baby via an affair for example?

Royals have always had herds of illegitimate sprogs.

anonymosity · 01/05/2011 22:01

Doesn't Prince Phillip notoriously have an entire alternate family with Maria Aitken? And didn't he have other "mistresses", a favourite being in Paris? Isn't this all old news, been done to death?

valiumbandwitch · 01/05/2011 22:03

well isn't there a rumour that prince philip has a child by an australian woman? child might be 40 by now though. the monaco guy, albert that's it, he has a child too and it's well known but he is getting married (at 53) later this year.

i think w&h would have had it spelled out to them loud and loud before they ever got within ten miles of a woman.

Punkatheart · 01/05/2011 22:04

Fitzroi - the surname means bastard son of the King. But the child has to be legitimate to have a claim...

TheMitfordsMaid · 01/05/2011 22:04

Ok, my knowledge of such matters is gleaned entirely from reading Catherine Cookson as a teen, but babies born illigitimately don't get a claim to the title. You can stop worrying.

valiumbandwitch · 01/05/2011 22:04

x posts! it's all in kitty kelly's book the royals, which i read about 13 years ago when i was in america!

nancy75 · 01/05/2011 22:05

a child of prince philips would have no claim to the throne because he's not the 'royal' one, but it would be quite a stir if they sold their story to the Sun

valiumbandwitch · 01/05/2011 22:06

yeah, the poor queen!

areyouserious · 01/05/2011 22:07

I assume you have proof that he has one night stands before you suggested it?

Slander can get expensive when the Royal Families lawyers become involved!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 01/05/2011 22:08

I was going to say that I would imagine that William was under pain of death to keep it in his trousers. But actually he's nearly 30 isn't he so that's not very realistic. I suppose if it had happened there would have been a different woman walking down the aisle with him. These days you wouldn't get away with hiding the true heir to the throne in a single mother's hostel somewhere.

mouseanon · 01/05/2011 22:10

Well obviously they'd have to go on Jeremy Kyle for a DNA test...

ChateauRouge · 01/05/2011 22:14

There are plenty of people in the royal succession line that are discounted on account of their illegitimacy.

Anyone with 'Fitz' at the beginning of their name, means their ancestor was from the wrong side of the bedsheet (wherever the F that saying came from!)

kaid100 · 01/05/2011 23:44

The child wouldn't be in line to the throne (only legitimate children are), and Harry would be expected to pay Child Support. In earlier times, illegitimate sons of royals were sometimes made Dukes or Lords, whether that would still happen today I don't know.

tiredemma · 01/05/2011 23:50

I think Henry VIII very nearly brought about an Act that would allow any illegitimate son to succeed him (this was before his marriage to Jane Seymour and birth of his son Henry)

tiredemma · 01/05/2011 23:51

sorry birth of son Edward!! not Henry!

Lonnie · 02/05/2011 00:17

Hasnt really concerned Albert of Monaco that he has is it 2 or 3 children out of wedlock so why should it do Harry?

Yellowstone · 02/05/2011 00:53

It couldn't matter less from the point of the succession if Harry fathers a billion lusty but illegitimate sons.

scottishmummy · 02/05/2011 00:59

wonder what?you daft old gossip.wind your teeth in

SpringchickenGoldBrass · 02/05/2011 01:04

FFS by the time any such child would have grown to adulthood the monarchy would have been quietly pensioned off and/or made to go and get jobs. I don't think the monarchy is even going to outlast the current queen.
I'm not entirely in favour of such a change. I used to think I was someone of republican inclinations until the Blair years, when it occurred to me that it was good that there was someone with sufficient constitutional power to step on that fucker's head - though it would have been cool if she's actually done so over the war with iraq.

kaid100 · 02/05/2011 01:56

Tiredemma: in fact an act was passed that said he could name any successors in his will, after his (legitimate) son Edward, he named Mary and Elizabeth as next in line even thought both were considered illegitimate at this point (his marriages to their mothers had been annulled).

AlpinePony · 02/05/2011 05:13

Aren't there rumours already that there was an "incident" in Argentina a few years back? She was ushered to a clinic.

I too remember that Prince Philip has a daughter in NZ/Aus.

I always understood that the men of the royal family are indoctrined into the world of sex by a "willing older woman", in William's case TPT.

It was also rumoured that Prince Charles was a prime shagger who was encouraged in the ways of bumsex (with the laydees) so as to avoid such a situation.

That's true love isn't it? When doesn't change at Bakerloo.

Don't ask me how I know any of this stuff. I can't remember where I parked the car but I seem to be able to retain useless "facts".
