Troll hunting

I can see this may be a sensitive issue, but having looked around there seems to be a lot of troll accusations being flung around. We definitely don't want trolls on here, but in some cases it has been about issues that may be genuinely concerning posters, such as DCs behaviour, problems at school or at home. Are people being unkind shooting people down when they think they are trolls when you just don't know if they are genuine or not. I've been accused of trolling in other forums and it's because my posting style is a little different.

Just want to agree with some other posters re "newbies" (was there ever a word that irritated me as much) and how do post etc. I love my MN time, am on a specific forum (started as antenatal), have got loads of support, help, advice and hopefully have given some. But at times MN is very head girly, oh we talked about that last month, did you really, don't read it or post on it then!! And as for those that are obsessed with people's spellings, grammar, punctuation, try pedants corner, now off to see what people really thought of Pippas' green dress Grin.

one mans troll is another mans forthright speaker

unless we are all sensitive little rosebuds, i think we can all deal with a difference of opinion

TheMonster · 30/04/2011 14:56

I love the idea of being a sensitive little rosebud. Sadly I look more like a troll.

I saw the instruction on mumsnet that troll hunting is not approved of for ages and kept wondering what it meant. It is human nature to wonder if you are being taken for a ride. I think those who understand that this can happen (trolling and troll hunting ) have to let others know of the dangers explicitly.
