Am in a dither.
Am feeding neighbours cats this week, usually take DCs with me or go when DH is home to keep an ear out for them, but DH gone out and I just realised I havent fed the cats yet.
Dcs are in bed.
WWYD? Am thinking of waiting an hour to make sure DCs fast asleep and then going over to sort cats out. Will take about 10 mins.

OP if you're still there and still deciding, you probably only have half an hour left to ask your immediate neighbour
That said - she'll have to go out to ask :o

Its only next door they should be fine, i have left mine (both have ASD) to pop to neighbours house, if the 5 year old is still awake you could take hime with you?

Marne · 29/04/2011 20:43

Oh and i guess it depends how far the next doors house is (ours was joint on to our house).

StatelyPoshBeartrothal · 29/04/2011 20:46

It's 3 doors down

perfumedlife · 29/04/2011 20:47

about three doors away.

NoWayNoHow · 29/04/2011 20:48

My DS is 3yo, and once he's properly asleep, you could run a train through his room and he wouldn't wake. If it were me, and I knew he'd been out cold for a while, then I would do it I think, especially if I can lock doors and secure the place and especially because I'm in a mid-terrace so very close.

Depends on your kids/area though, go with your gut.

Greenshadow · 29/04/2011 20:49

I'd go. They are asleep. It'll take minutes. No problem.

Goblinchild · 29/04/2011 20:51

Fine, but if I'd asked you to take care of my cats and keep them safe at night, I'd never forgive you if you didn't shut them in and they died as a result.
Being burgled would be secondary to that.

squeakytoy · 29/04/2011 20:56

I would go. If you lock the doors, what exactly could happen to sleeping children in the space of less than ten minutes????

Fluteyboots · 29/04/2011 20:58

I would go. If you lived in a big house, the children could be just as far away as eg 3 doors in a terrace.

You can't leave cats out that are used to being shut in at night, you can't leave a house insecure and you can't not feed pets that you have committed to looking after.

If you really are not happy to leave children, you must wake them up. It is your fault you forgot, you have to keep the commitment. If you promised to look after my cats and property then consciously did not do so, I would never trust you with anything ever again.

Cats fed! Fastest cat feeding in the world!
I checked on dcs, ran to neighbours house, cat was in so shut window, threw food in bowl and ran back to check dcs again.
Dcs and cats all fine. I am out of breath!!

I knew it would be ok

some people worry too much

Goblinchild · 29/04/2011 21:10

Well done OP. Smile

Grumpla · 29/04/2011 21:12

Yep, if they make cat-feeding an Olympic sport you're sorted!

wotnochocs · 29/04/2011 21:14

Be fine -it's not going to take you longer than 5 minutes.

happybubblebrain · 29/04/2011 21:16

I wouldn't do it. Cats can look after themselves, children can't.

chickchickchicken · 29/04/2011 21:21

well done OP

Lonnie · 29/04/2011 21:22

well that depends did op remember to time herself so we know how to set the trials for others to go up agaisnt her?

OP I would have done like you

Geepers · 29/04/2011 21:24

I'd do it without even thinking much about it if all my children were asleep. But I'd also not feel guilty about not feeding the cat. It's just a cat. It will survive one night without meat.

lechatnoir · 29/04/2011 21:41

I'm just Shock at how paranoid some people are!!!
