I am more excited that one of the other titles is Earl of Strathearn which is where i grew up.

HairyBeaver · 29/04/2011 18:32

Yes I live on the outskirts of Cambridge, very pleased and can't wait for him to be king.

MarioandLuigi · 29/04/2011 18:32

Thats why I am so excited about Cambridge - its my hometown.

Same here I'm from South East Cambridge! Been in London and was so pleased to hear they are Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Waiting for the first visit now.

MissAnthrope · 29/04/2011 18:38

I'm not - I was forced to walk the long way round rather than cut through St John's on Wednesday thanks to the Queen's visit. It'll only get worse [cwink]

midsummerfairycichlid · 29/04/2011 18:55

I live in Carrickfergus, and I couldn't be more underwhelmed they've been granted the baronetcy of the town. Really, what's wrong with just being Mr & Mrs Middleton-Windsor? Has a nice ring to it [cconfused]

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 29/04/2011 19:23

Another on the outskirts of cambridge here, quite chuffed with the titles.

Vallhala · 29/04/2011 19:28

They're welcome to bloody Cambridge AFAIAC!

expatinscotland · 29/04/2011 19:37

'what's wrong with just being Mr & Mrs Middleton-Windsor?'

Or Mr and Mrs Saxe-Coburg.

HRHCaveMum · 29/04/2011 19:48

We're just outside Cambridge too and are very pleased for them! I wonder if St Andrews are upset [cwink]

I'm glad they didn't just give her the title of Princess Catherine, in an old 29 traditionalist [cgrin]

Tee2072 · 29/04/2011 19:56

She's not actually the Baroness of Carrickfergus. He's just the Baron. He also only got the Earl title. She's only the Duchess of Cambridge.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 29/04/2011 19:59

If I was her, I'd be pretty pissed off that I was a Duchess not a Princess [cwink]

MarioandLuigi · 29/04/2011 20:04

Duchess is much more grown up [csmile]

I may be wrong and Im only guessing, but can they be prince and princess? Im wondering cos if you are a prince/princess do you have to be of some principality like Wales? We still have a prince of Wales. I dont know of any other principalities in GB. I can only name Monaco.

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 29/04/2011 20:09

but then again my geography is shocking

CestTout · 29/04/2011 20:47

Apparently she can be referred to as Princess informally (eg by the public) but for royal occasions she has to be Duchess. Was an article about it somewhere this morning.

HRHCaveMum · 29/04/2011 21:09

As I understand it, you can call her Princess but she is Princess William of Wales NOT Princess Catherine.
When Charles becomes King and William is Prince of Wales she will be Catherine Princess of Wales.

Happymm · 29/04/2011 21:14

HRHCaveMum's right. She can't be Princess Catherine as she wasn't born a princess. So she is Princess William of Wales, like Princess Michael of Kent thing...:o

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 29/04/2011 22:28

Oh I thought princess Michael of Kent was her actual name. So does she have another name then? Actually I'll google it Grin

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 29/04/2011 22:30

Apparently she does, well you learn something new everyday.

hocuspontas · 29/04/2011 22:31

Lol! Prince Michael of Kent married a woman called Michael....

Northernlurker · 29/04/2011 22:47

Princess Michael's name is Marie Christine I think
