... to be annoyed at the media calling Kate Middleton a 'commoner'

First time poster in AIBU so be gentle with me!

Now I am loving the pomp and circumstance of the royal wedding, I think it's lovely to join in with wedding celebrations anyway, let alone one that the whole world is watching too.

I'm also very pleased that Wills has found his girl and that we have some hope of a fresh approach to the monarchy (that's if Queenie doesn't rule too much longer and Charlie doesn't take his time either).

BUT.

The main theme of all the media coverage is related to Kate Middleton's 'Normal' background. Can I point out that she is NOT your average commoner. She grew up in a posh house, posh village, went to private schools her entire life, and upon graduating from uni, did not get a job yet still managed to wear all the top fashion labels and mix in the right circles (obviously funded by her family).

So please STOP calling her 'common'. Does she know what its like to live of £20 a week? No. Has she worked three jobs just to pay the bills? No. Sorry, but it's bugging me.

She was the Muggle to William's SuperLizard.

However - after the signing the register she would have had her soul sucked out (the bit of the ceremony they DON'T televise!!) thus becoming Lizardised.

The salute thing on the way back is essentially the Activation process which ensured that before entering the Halls of Lizardness (Buck Pal to you and me) all cells were fully lizard.

If you look closely at her on the way back in the coach you can see that her mouth gets really twitchy at a certain point and after that her wave becomes more aggressive... classic SuperLizard.

mumblechum1 · 29/04/2011 16:25

You know every time William saluted someone, she dropped her gaze. What's that all about?

ShoutyHamster · 29/04/2011 16:26

He was LizardSignalling to the plants in the crowd. She'd only just become Lizard and wasn't at full strength yet so if she'd looked into the beam she would have melted.

Sorry but she is a commoner

MayBankHoliday · 29/04/2011 16:29

Commoner just means non-royal. Money doesn't come into it.

She is/was a commoner.

Diana was not a commoner - she was Lady Diana Spencer before the wedding.

MrsJamin · 29/04/2011 21:33

Ahem, ARoyalHardhat I live in a 2 up 2 down in a busy town, and I'm not common! I take offence at your comment!

Oh and OP YABU as most people have pointed out.

kslatts · 29/04/2011 21:40

YABU, she was a commoner so what is there to take offence at. Being a commoner doesn't mean common.

mumintroll · 29/04/2011 22:15

But that's the whole point of the monarchy isn't it? No matter how hard you work, no matter how successful or wealthy you are, you will always be a commoner, and they will always consider themselves superior to you (no matter how badly they behave).

diddl · 29/04/2011 22:28

Well, she was a commoner, but I agree had a pretty priveleged background compared to many of us.

MayBankHoliday · 29/04/2011 22:32

What a strange comment. Someone from any social class could live in this type of house, depending on circumstances, and someone "common" could have a lot of money and a large house.

"Shes not common in the sense of coming from a 2 up 2 down in the middle of a busy town"
